Nerding out a bit here as Trials has a lot of sentimental value to me - I'd joined Bungie just before the first Trials weekend of Destiny 1, and playing 36 hours of 3v3 elim over that first 3-day weekend really solidified my love for the game. I was a lot younger then... wild to think it's been 10 years of Trials - well, outside of the hiatus, Trials of the Nine, and other general outages.

The Lighthouse and reward changes were really nice yesterday. Had a blast with friends. Loved seeing all of the "it's my first time at the lighthouse" posts.

We still have more work to do over time for Trials, but it was refreshing.

Played solo, played duo, played trios. Helped a coworker get to 7 streak over lunch. Helped a friend get to 4 over dinner. Helped another friend get to a 7 before bed.

While we all know 7 may not happen, just hopping in and getting rewards is what it's all about. We'd made some goals of small streaks, so hitting the longer ones was a nice surprise. Removing the expectation and NEED for 7 changed out mentalities a ton.

Some games hurt, some games are riots. Some games are nailbiters. No matter the outcome, we know there are some rewards, a bit of rep, and a potential godroll on the other side.

a lot of AAA games will have their primary system (usually combat), while features like exploration and puzzles are reduced to texture

they serve to pad things out & pace the game but are not allowed to be difficult/interesting as they're not the important part-
