As I keep pointing out, every time a woman has run for president - and lost - she ran with a man called Tim. The people weren't rejecting women, they were rejecting Tims.
What Iโm hoping will happen this week:
1. The Leadbeater Bill fails.
2. Politicians accept that this debate has exposed the shocking underfunding of palliative care.
3. We switch our attention away from assisted suicide and on to improving end-of-life care.
I'm not completely opposed to the principle of assisted dying, but there's no way parliament should be passing it in this form. A rushed draft, shambolically introduced with insufficient debating time, by an MP who isn't able to cope with scrutiny
Quite the intervention on Assisted Dying from Wes Streeting. Says it will come at they expense of other NHS services
Although he says other health ministers would deal with the detail wouldnโt it still be tricky for him to remain health secretary if AD passes
Supporters of the Leadbeater bill say homosexuality was decriminalised and hanging was abolished through PMBs.
But these were short measures repealing simple bits of the law. The Leadbeater bill is creating an entire machinery of death.
Wrong idea, wrong vehicle, wrong time.
'Where men are forbidden to honour a king they honour millionaires, athletes, or film-stars instead: even famous prostitutes or gangsters. For spiritual nature, like bodily nature, will be served; deny it food and it will gobble poison.'

The ensign of the Spanish Warship San Ildefonso on display in 2022, for Trafalgar Day at the National Maratime Museum.
Removed when the ship was captured at Trafalgar, it was displayed at Nelson's funeral & still shows the scars of the battle.
The space it fills & size is huge!
