🚨PLEASE PRAY FOR THE METCALF FAMILY.🚨

Please pray for the Metcalf family this week. They are being dragged back into a courtroom with the man convicted of murdering their son yet again on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

I cannot imagine the stress and mental anguish of having to go through this process all over again. According to multiple sources I have spoken with, Karmelo Anthony is expected to be in the courtroom. That means this family may once again have to sit in the same room with the person a jury found guilty of killing their son.

And for what?

In my view, this has become nothing but theater and a clown show surrounding the so-called “dream team” that somehow couldn’t be found BEFORE Karmelo’s trial, but magically appeared afterward when there was publicity to be had and another opportunity to portray him as the victim.

We have now reached the point where people are complaining about access to a 27-person courtroom during a nationally watched murder trial, despite the fact that seating was extremely limited and first come, first served. Somehow, people failing to arrive early enough to secure one of those extremely limited seats has been transformed into another supposed injustice.

Meanwhile, the actual victim’s family is the one paying the price.

Wednesday should involve the relatively quick process surrounding the motion to recuse. Then Thursday and Friday are expected to involve the much longer process surrounding the motion for a new trial. Several people are expected to take the stand, potentially including prosecutor Bill Wirskye, as the State responds to the defense’s allegations and explains why the trial and its procedures were handled properly.

And through all of this, the Metcalf family has to sit there and endure it again.

They already endured the unimaginable loss of their son. They endured the investigation. They endured the trial. They endured the circus outside the courthouse. They endured the attacks, the threats, and people treating the person convicted of k*lling their child as though he were the victim.

Now they have to walk back into that courtroom and relive it.

The defense has the legal right to file its motions and make its arguments. But having the right to pursue those arguments does not erase the very real human cost of putting a grieving family through another round of hearings.

At some point, people need to remember who the victim actually was.

Austin Metcalf was k*lled. His family buried their son. A jury returned a guilty verdict. And now his family is being asked to endure another courtroom battle while people continue fighting to have the man convicted of k*lling him walk free.

Please pray for the Metcalf family this week. Pray for their strength. Pray for their peace. And pray for them as they face three more days of something no parent should ever have to experience.

KARMELO ANTHONY UPDATE

Karmelo Anthony has officially filed a Notice of Appeal following his conviction in the murder of Austin Metcalf.

The filing, submitted in the 296th District Court of Collin County, notifies the court that Anthony intends to appeal his conviction to the Fifth Court of Appeals in Dallas.

The document also includes a Pauper’s Oath, in which Anthony swears under oath that he is indigent and unable to afford counsel or the costs associated with the appeal. As a result, he has requested that the court appoint an attorney to represent him during the appeals process and provide the trial transcripts and records necessary for appellate review.

To be clear, this filing does not overturn the verdict, grant a new trial, or change Anthony’s sentence. It is the formal first step in the appellate process and preserves his right to challenge the conviction before a higher court.

Appeals are common in serious felony cases, particularly those involving lengthy prison sentences. The appellate court will review the trial record and determine whether any legal errors occurred that would justify overturning the conviction or ordering a new trial.

For now, the jury’s guilty verdict remains in place, and Anthony remains convicted of Austin Metcalf’s murder.

I will continue to monitor the case and provide updates as new filings become available.
