Technology, sustainability, and human dignity ought to go hand in hand in our modern public service.
On behalf of my @InteriorKE colleague @kipmurkomen, this evening i joined the correctional services fraternity at the 2026 Correctional Services Week Gala Dinner and Excellence Awards Themed "Transforming Correctional Services through Technology and Green Solutions”. Just like in the Tourism and Conservation sector, by embracing digital solutions and green innovations, our institutions are not just managing custody—they are driving true reform, lowering costs, and building safer communities for all Kenyans.
Congratulations to all award-winning officers and partners on this fete.

Wonderful afternoon with a team from the @CentumCares to advance a five-year strategic partnership for the "Friends of Mount Kenya" Initiative, working alongside the @KWSKenya to advance our destination Magical Kenya.
This framework aims to transform Africa's second-highest peak—a UNESCO World Heritage Site and vital water catchment—into a globally competitive adventure tourism destination through public-private and community support to upgrade our trail networks and signage, improve sanitation and visitor amenities, bolster high-altitude safety and emergency rescue capabilities, and expand capacity building for local guides and porters.
Such initiatives seek to protect Mount Kenya's delicate ecosystem while driving local job creation, community empowerment, and economic growth across the region.
The @Min_TourismKE commits to pursue this partnership to a timely and transformative fruition.

Jefferson Wachira Gachango and Dorothy Gacheri Kimathi charged in Ksh 1.5 million VAT fraud case
Two company directors have been charged in court over a Value-Added Tax (VAT) fraud case involving claims of incorrect purchases that allegedly caused the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) a loss of Ksh 1.53 million.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) approved six charges related to tax fraud and aiding the commission of tax fraud against several individuals linked to private companies.
Jefferson Wachira Gachango, a director of Jefla Construction Company, appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate P.K. Mutai alongside Dorothy Gacheri Kimathi to answer the charges.
The court heard that Wachira made incorrect tax statements in July 2022 by claiming purchases worth Ksh 3,329,145 from Adsem General Supplies.
The prosecution said he knew the information was incorrect and used it to reduce his VAT liability, resulting in a tax loss of Ksh 532,663.
He faced a second count over purchases worth Ksh 3,427,105 allegedly claimed from Namtek Transporters.
The claim was said to have caused a further VAT loss of Ksh 548,337.
Kimathi was also charged with making an incorrect statement in relation to purchases worth Ksh 2,852,672 from Aislve Enterprises.
According to the prosecution, the claim reduced her VAT liability and caused a loss of Ksh 456,428.
The three claims account for the cumulative VAT loss of Ksh 1,537,428 cited in the case.
Wachira was released on a bond of Ksh 600,000 or an alternative cash bail of Ksh 400,000. Kimathi was granted a bond of Ksh 300,000 or an alternative cash bail of Ksh 150,000.
Meanwhile, the court issued arrest warrants against Jane Lucy Njeri, Joram Kamau and Amisi Zamda after they failed to appear for the proceedings. The three are directors of Jefla Construction Company, Renova Limited and Tekaza Investment and General Suppliers, respectively.
The court also directed Henry Ateka Nyabwari, the sixth suspect, to appear on Friday for plea-taking.
The case was prosecuted by Annette Wangia, Virginia Kariuki, Kevin Nyaga and Charlotte Elly.
