@dearlove1990@RandA@TheOpen It’s a modernised rule it’s referring to but the predecessor was never enforced either. I think Clark at the US open just past springs to mind - he has to be the worst on tour for it. Granted a different governing body at the US Open.
@dearlove1990@RandA@TheOpen That made me chuckle. It just seems incredibly harsh, just my opinion of course but that sums it up - I’d question the R&As integrity on the decision when it’s seemingly never been enforced in the last 30 years.
@dearlove1990@RandA@TheOpen So you are saying Bryson knowingly cheated? You can just admit you don’t like the guy, I’m sure you’d have the same outrage if it was Rory or Fleetwood.
@truthte52543233@BrianKirschner_ I play links generally twice a week and it’s very difficult to walk around a native area like that without trampling the fescue to get a decent stance. It’s just my opinion but it seems like an incredibly harsh call.
@dearlove1990@RandA@TheOpen You don’t think getting a 2 shot penalty could have a negative impact on how he plays over the weekend? Turned the tournament into a circus.
@jimbare73183@kclairerogers Don’t disagree but a golfer lives off their reputation. They’ve now allowed all these clowns that already don’t like the guy to label him a cheat. It was a ridiculously harsh call for me and has turned the tournament into a circus.
@Lengthyshovel@PeterFinchGolf I mean I’m Scottish and love Rory and Tommy as much as anyone else does. They don’t get penalised for that, you know it and I know it.
@ToffeeClark@PeterFinchGolf I don’t think he took an unfair stance which is what they are penalising him for. He absolutely could be more subtle with his steps but it’s so difficult to walk around fescue like that without trampling over the grass. Just my opinion but seems overly harsh.
@truthte52543233@BrianKirschner_ The guys been penalised because of who he is, how many players ‘inadvertently’ improved their lies today? You cannot play links golf without moving fescue.
@flushingitgolf It’s a terrible look for the R&A, anyone that’s played links golf has improved their lie, it’s impossible to stand on rough/fescue without any movement. No camera behind him so how can they possibly deems he’s 100% improved his lie.
