Dear Vinesh, It is said that sport is a celebration of human will. I have known that to be true many times in my career but never has it resonated more than today. As I look around me, I see a nation and its people celebrate your unyielding resolve.
You are a fighter – on and off the mat. Through you, we are learning what it means to never lose the fight in us, even as a loss weighs heavily. You embody the true spirit of a warrior.
Not all victories look alike. Some end up as a glittering souvenir in a cabinet but the ones that matter more find their way into the stories we tell our children. And every child in this country will know the champion you are. Every child will grow up wanting to face life with the resilience you have displayed. I thank you for that.
Respect,
Abhinav Bindra

Pandya clearly knows what he got himself into. He thrives on the hate. He loves the attention. He truly does not care about the trolling. He enjoys the money. Very Ronaldo/Ibrahimovic type personality.
He does believe he is the main character. He backs himself to perform to his potential. He loves the thrill of having the anti-hero arc that makes you eventually question if you love him as much as you hate him.
We hated on him collectively and vociferously after his arrogant Koffee With Karan episode. But he made himself almost irreplaceable in the squad post that.
Now whether he will perform or not, only time will tell. But he does not want to play safe. He’s a risk-taker. All or nothing.
This tectonic shift in the MI camp will either give him top dog status or completely destroy his reputation. The result depends only on his performance and leadership.
Because if history has witnessed one thing, our collective memories are supremely short-lived. If you win us trophies, we love you regardless of your flaws.
@mehtahansal i had the worst experience with the czech embassy in new delhi. after rejecting my application twice for reasons they didn’t even care to mention properly, they called the security on me for asking questions about why it was cancelled. worst experience ever, left crying
I haven’t been excited about anything for a long, long time. Like the night before a picnic, night before a vacation.
Or the feeling of working on a project that will be unveiled.
I feel like something is fundamentally wrong with the way I’m living.
