Why on earth did we allow Richard Hughes to oversee such an important summer transfer window.

He has absolutely no skin in the game. No long term accountability, no consequences if he gets this window wrong and no responsibility for fixing it afterwards. Yet we’ve allowed a sporting director who already has one foot out the door to make decisions that could shape Liverpool’s squad for the next five years.

If this window goes badly, Hughes doesn’t have to answer for it. He’ll be in Saudi Arabia earning millions while Liverpool are left dealing with the consequences. How was that ever considered a sensible way to run a football club?

An Open Letter to the Liverpool Board

Dear Liverpool Board,

Please, for once, listen to the fans before the window closes.

We are not asking you to go into the market and panic-buy players. We are asking you to look at this squad honestly, identify the weaknesses and fix them properly.
There are positions that simply cannot be ignored.
We need a proper defensive midfielder.
Not another midfielder who can “do a job” there. Not another makeshift solution. We need a genuine No. 6 who can protect the defence, win the ball, control transitions and give this team the stability it has been missing.
We need proper right-back competition.
If that position needs strengthening, strengthen it. We cannot spend an entire season hoping everything works out while leaving obvious weaknesses unaddressed.
And most importantly, we need a proper player for the Salah position.

Mo Salah has left a massive hole on the right side of our attack. That cannot simply be replaced on paper. We need a player with the quality, pace, creativity and attacking threat to make that position dangerous again. The club has already been linked with several wide players, but at some point, the talking has to become action. (Talksport)

And these are not the only areas to consider. If the manager and recruitment team identify other positions that require strengthening, BACK THEM.
That is the whole point.
We have a new manager. Give him the tools to succeed.

Do not wait until January.
Do not wait until injuries expose the squad.
Do not wait until we are chasing teams at the top of the table.

Do the necessary work NOW.

We, the fans, will always support Liverpool. We will sing, travel, spend our money, defend this club and stand behind the players and manager.

But don’t mistake our loyalty for acceptance of poor squad planning.

If there are obvious weaknesses and the club deliberately chooses not to address them, then when those same weaknesses cost us points, trophies or Champions League nights, we will remember.

The manager deserves to be properly backed. The squad deserves to be properly strengthened.
And the fans deserve to see ambition from the people running Liverpool Football Club.

So, Liverpool board:

Get the defensive midfielder.
Strengthen the right-back position.
Find a proper Salah replacement.
Address every other weakness that needs addressing.Back the gaffer.
Don’t leave us sitting here at the end of the window saying:

“We knew this was coming.”

Because if the club fails to do the necessary when the opportunity is right in front of you, the fans will not take it lightly.

We love Liverpool.

Now show us that the people running Liverpool love competing at the very highest level too.

BACK THE GAFFER.
FIX THE SQUAD.
