@AnnaDeMilanese Ich sehe das Problem irgendwie nicht. Entweder man lässt alles weiterlaufen und statt nach Russland wird das Material in die EU verkauft oder man verstaatlicht es. Es gibt genug Wege um den Fluss nach RU zu stoppen und Jobs zu behalten...

The situation demonstrates that Russia (and its oligarchs) are masters at circumventing measures, while the West often prioritizes its own economic self-interest.

More effective sanctions would require stricter enforcement, fewer exemptions, and genuine decoupling regarding strategic goods—otherwise, the approach remains partly symbolic, merely throttling Russia’s war-making capabilities rather than halting them. The political will to take decisive action is often lacking.

You know what the strange thing is here? The politician that Caolan interviewed in the video below, Niall Collins, was the main target of the Ditch investigative stories back in 2023 that nearly destroyed his career. The Ditch was founded by Chay Bowes who moved to Moscow that year. So it's maybe no coincidence that the Ditch story was amplified by Irish vatnik politicians in the opposition parties during Dail (parliament) sessions. Collins survived the controversy but maybe the episode was enough to rattle him in particular and the government into staying quiet about Aughinish Alumina. Collins seems to be suddenly unaware of a lot of details when questioned by Caolan 🤔
