#HouseOfTheDragon showrunner Ryan Condal on Aegon and Aemond meeting in the finale of Season 3
“We wanted to tee up what was to come. And this is a good example of, though it isn’t in the book, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it couldn’t have happened, simply because Aegon sort of disappears from the record. We know he reappears… and we know that he doesn’t interact with Aemond again in the text, but that doesn’t mean that he didn’t. It just means that the historians writing the book didn’t have a record of it.
You have Rhaenyra and Daemon at the core on the Black side, you have Aemond and Aegon at the core on the Green side. It feels like that was the right place to set us up… vaulting us into Season 4, because that’s largely who the story is going to be about at this point in the telling.”

Showrunner Ryan Condal says Alicent would be his choice for the Iron Throne in #HouseOfTheDragon:
“There’s not a character in the show that has seen more of a differential between power, to lack of power. She’s seen it all. […] She’s had the proper experience and training to make the right choices.”

#HouseOfTheDragon showrunner Ryan Condal on the changes from book to screen:
“For me, necessary changes in the translation of something from one medium to another seem less controversial. People have to understand that I have 200 pages of prose to work with to make four seasons of television. And this stuff, believe me, keeps me up at night more than anybody.
But between season 2 and season 3, I just realised that I really can’t live like this anymore, just worrying about every little thing. I have to trust my instincts as somebody who’s read Fire & Blood probably more than anybody else on the planet at this point. And I still regard this adaptation as tremendously faithful to the overall text and the broad story that it is telling, even when there are individual moments that are surprising or different”
