yeah you just get this one done. 16 with that frame, coordination and level of execution already translating to senior football. carries, combines, separates and creates without needing the game slowed down for him
#mufc are scouring Europe for potential replacements for JJ Gabriel. Club chiefs are now resigned to the fact that Gabriel is leaving Old Trafford.
One option to replace Gabriel in their pool of young players is 16-year-old RC Lens talent Mezian Mesloub who has been scouted extensively by the recruitment department at United [@alex_crook]
gives him two weeks to work with part of the squad and actually begin implementing something rather than waiting for the season to deteriorate enough that the decision becomes obvious
Nagelsmann being available changes the Carrick conversation completely for me. 5 points from 5 alone isn’t why you sack him, it’s the repetition of the same issues with game control, settled possession and in-game adaptation
Carrick did enough last season to earn the job, but United shouldn’t let that become sunk-cost thinking. if you believe Nagelsmann is the superior long-term coach, just make the change now and get him in before the international break.
@sulkfenomeno The fact that United fans are saying let him go knowing we’d be bested by other teams if we tried to sign him (if he wasn’t out player) and also the fact that it’s a constant thing just like tryin to go for Gallagher and getting Kobbie out of there last year
@imzispoms and my bigger issue is using that to project 15 year olds. “Dowman/Tunkara can access more dangerous actions right now because their physical profiles allow it” is fair. jumping from that to “therefore their absolute ceiling is higher” assumes
@imzispoms i agree they intersect, i just don’t think interaction means you should collapse the variables. if anything separating them gives you more nuance because you can explain why an action is more effective rather than just aggregating everything into “physio-technical”
@imzispoms The Mbappe annd Isco example actually proves the point. You don’t need to say Mbappe is “infinitely clear technically” to explain why he’s infinitely more dangerous. Isco can be superior in certain techniacl qualiites
@imzispoms balance through contacts etc are obviously technical qualities. But pace, size and strength themselves aren’t technique l they’re physical capacities that interact with technique. Collapsing them together makes the analysis less precise, not more precise.
@imzispoms I understand what you mean, I just think you’ve created an aggregate for “how effective a footballer can be” and called it physio-technical ability.
Nobody thinks technique is just freestyle ability. Execution speed, touch at pace, finishing under pressure,
@imzispoms If anything, writing off an elite technician because he’s 5’6 at 15 is the actual cavemanification of talent ID
I do agree with the club part
@imzispoms You’re talking about kids who are still developing physically. Technical level, decision-making, spatial awareness and how a player manipulates the game translate far better than comparing height and weight before they’ve even finished puberty.
