BREAKING: TAKE THAT! A federal appeals court deals Trump a crushing defeat by upholding a ruling that blocks the IRS from sharing data with ICE.

This is a major setback for the MAGA fascists…

“The IRS failed to require ICE to provide a ‘specific reason’ why the requested return information ‘is or may be relevant to [a qualifying] proceeding or investigation,’ as the statute demands,” Judge Cornelia Pillard wrote for a three-judge panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

The panel ruled that ICE’s absurd power grab request for the addresses of 1.28 million people who may or may not be undocumented immigrants violates post-Watergate laws that prevent the IRS from disseminating information to other agencies except under very “stringent conditions.” Trump’s goons failed to meet those conditions.

“It entirely fails to ensure that ICE lists a federal employee, let alone one ‘personally and directly engaged’ in a qualifying investigation of a particular taxpayer,” wrote Pillard. “That failure has serious consequences. When ICE requested information on 1.28 million taxpayers in the summer of 2025, ICE identified the same person as the point of contact for every single request.”

On top of that, the panel found that the IRS-ICE collaboration would blatantly violate privacy laws.

“The Data-Exchange Procedure reduces noncitizens’ privacy rights in their tax returns,” the judges stated. “By providing a distinct, automated pathway for ICE to request noncitizens’ information, the Data-Exchange Procedure deprives noncitizens of the protections that section 6103 guarantees to all taxpayers.”

This decision should be celebrated by every freedom-loving American, documented or otherwise. This ICE request is just one of countless authoritarian tendrils snaking out of the Trump White House. His goal is to strip away our rights and privacy while concentrating as much power as possible in his hands and the hands of his masked paramilitary agents. We must fight them on every front if we are going to have any hope of securing our democracy for future generations.
