@lessthanpleased I'm half tempted to order a copy myself, but I have to admit I'm intimidated by the sheer size of the thing! It kind of reminds me of the two volume Robert Graves Greek Myths, which I reckon I could use to clobber a burglar
@SeriousWizardry Those would be my three recs for high schoolers (or very possibly for anyone). Worth noting, my particular taste has influenced this coz I really bounce of translations that get too versey and heavy on rhyme. It feels like shoving Homer into a Shakespeare shaped hole. Not for me.
@SeriousWizardry I'm often a little torn with epithets, I love the repetition and the imagery of some (eg Alexander's Apollo "who strikes from afar") but especially for readers unfamiliar with all the characters, sometimes it's helpful to just say "Agamemnon" instead of "Son of Atreus", y'know?
