The need to protect Canada's finite and irreplaceable farmland and soil resources (five per cent of our land, and less than one percent for class 1 soil to grow fruit and veg) is needed more than ever, with Ontario's Bill 5 coming into play. #iSaidWhatiSaid#ontAg
The OFA commends @SenatorRobBlack for his commitment and leadership in bringing national attention to the critical need to protect Canada’s finite and irreplaceable farmland and soil resources. Healthy soil is the foundation of a resilient food system, a sustainable environment, and a strong rural economy. We thank Senator Black for his continuous efforts to safeguard the future of farm and food production in Canada.

This entire Bill 5 process was flawed. The Ford government rewrote the rules so they can pass any law they want—without proper consultation, without debate.
We will fight to Scrap Bill 5 until the very end.
Bill 5 pushback is increasing. Indigenous MPP Sol Makmakwa was expelled from the Ont legislature today, alleging the Ford gov't told Indigenous communities "untruths." The province is seeking to shut down debate on the fast-tracked Bill 5 b4 summer recess.

Facts. Also, I wish we had a Premier like Wab Kinew. He doesn't make empty claims, he follows through instead of grandstanding with a slogan and then immediately backing down.
What are the main concerns? Are farmers seeing higher premiums for lower farm insurability? Is it a balancing act between replacement cost valuation and insurance cost? Or facing non-renewal due to new building codes, climate change impacts or claims? Share your expirence #ontAG
It’s no surprise that farmer members of the OFA identified insurance as number two on the list of issues they’re most worried about in relation to their businesses in the 2024 Farm Business Confidence Survey. The nature of farming means that farmers and farm businesses have special insurance requirements that aren’t necessarily covered by conventional solutions.

If you’re a Canadian who thinks Canada is a shithole country..
Which country would you rather live in?
What is different there than here?
Give me a real answer and I’ll listen.
Fair warning,
I have a one insult block policy.
I have a mean insult mock policy.
And go.
@TaraJeffrey A huge loss for Sarnia and journalism in general, but I’m hopeful (and confident) you will continue to share people’s stories and reflections of your community. You’ve always been a beacon of what fair, unbiased journalism is. Here’s to your next adventure!
@StreefProduce@JohnDeere@Carhartt@DylanStreef@farmtario Awesome - could you please DM me with some details on that new supervisor? We like to give recognition when recognition is due. Due to the cute factor being 100 - names and ages are required. 🙂
This beautiful baby girl is from Neskantaga First Nation, northern ON. Will she grow up bathing in/drinking clean water? Neskaganga has been in a water boil advisory state of emergency for over 30 years. Let’s pray this community gets access to life’s most basic necessity. It’s a human right.
I’m in Neskantaga First Nation, home of Canada’s longest water boil advisory going on past 30 years. A 24 pack of bottled water is $37.99 plus tax. Community members get water flown in by the federal government but it’s rationed. So if they run out, the local Northern Store is the only place to get clean drinking water. INSANE
I am hiring!
This is a 👌🏻opp to be involved in @SenateCA work that impacts #CdnAg
I’m seeking a knowledgeable & highly experienced person with experience in & a genuine interest for #AgPolicy & #RuralAffairs to be my Director of Parliamentary Affairs.

@Bakogeorge I just debated lede length with an editor. I maintain the 21 word length you taught at SAIT your first year. I said the lede draws the reader, the second graph explains why they should keep reading. Thanks for the ethic/journalism foundations #careershaper#evolvedPJ
