Is this a good time to mention that I deleted my Twitter apps last week but have been quite enjoying my time over on Mastodon?
It's not the same, but it is full of nice people and way less stress.
🥁 I'm pleased to announce the winners of the 2021 Swift Community Awards! Thank you to the thousands of folks who nominated and voted for their favorites – even just making the shortlist was hard! You can find all the winners here: https://t.co/H2hIRLl5j8
@coyotebroad I feel similarly. I’ve been off FB for years but have really enjoyed the folks I’ve gotten to know here. I am concerned about what might happen after the acquisition, which is why I’m trying to explore the alternatives. But it is sad to think of starting again elsewhere.
A friend asked for a link to a simple video explaining Mastodon. So if you’ve been hearing about it lately and wondering what everyone is talking about, I think this is a good explainer: https://t.co/L5GrAwZDGe
@coyotebroad Aww, yeah, sorry. I believe they put a lot of effort into the onboarding in the official iOS app (and presumably Android, too), but it does still require a certain amount of “just knowing” or researching before sign-up. Hopefully that improves if folks move over and “stick”!
@coyotebroad I’m not using the Local timeline (which is the one for the server you’re on) - seems a lot of folks on my server are non-English speakers and it’s just a random server anyway. My timeline is folks I’m following that I found from hashtags I’m interested in. Similar to Twitter.
Totally agree with this! I admit I’m really good about doing this in my part of the org, but am not good about reaching out to bosses when folks in other parts of the org deserve recognition. Good reminder for anyone who needs to hear this!
Lots of companies have employee recognition like kudos, tacos, or bonusly, but the best way to thank your colleagues for a job well done is to tell their boss. Their boss has the means to influence their position, responsibilities, and compensation. This is truly meaningful.
There's just seven hours left to get in on this sale. (The products are detailed in the thread starting with the tweet quoted below.) If you plan on buying something, don’t wait too much longer… https://t.co/bVIQ8dstkE
@siracusa Thank you for posting this! Hubby and I are behind in our @atpfm listening and didn’t realize today is the deadline. Thanks to this Tweet, we got our merch order in 😁
Tech writing is simple: deeply understand the subject matter area, read and write code, write excellent texts, preferably in two or three languages including Klingon, be an interviewer, an analyst, a UX researcher, a ninja. After that, the job really takes care of itself.
Bah. We took our car to the dealer last week for the key getting stuck in the ignition thing.
They lost our car key but didn’t tell us until we called to check in.
We have an AirTag on it. It was last seen ~30 miles south 4 days ago.
More waiting while they order a new fob 😞
