There’s a tear in my eye man. For so long in professional wrestling we’ve suffered a drought, not a consistent one but one that was noticeable enough to be recognized and to be called against. In a sense throughout all the greatness that we’ve experienced, the true “feeling” of an all time professional wrestling match was lacking, at least for me as I can only speak for myself.

But this, man. This was one of the greatest matches I’ve ever seen, and call it recency bias, maybe it is, but seeing Omega come back from what felt like an impossible task only to give one of his greatest performances ever is just otherworldly. This was everything it needed to be, and way more. Gabe Kidd is a fucking beast that played his role perfectly and backed up every word that he spoke, which in the wrestling world is a rarity.

The storytelling, the drama, the struggle, as Ibou put it, the grit of it all. This match felt like a man doing everything in his power to overcome his odds standing face to face with another man who needed to prove that his greatness didn’t mean shit to him. Just a fucking classic man. No words man. There will never be another Omega.

Kenny Omega vs. Gabe Kidd was art.

Kidd, after wrestling 120+ times in 2024, and the miserable pandemic conditions, wasn't happy that Kenny Omega came back after running from the grind.

Kidd wanted to represent what NJPW stood for against what Omega/AEW stood for.

Gabe even busted out Inoki's Cobra Twist to attack Omega's body after diverticulitis, then the Enziguri that Inoki was credited for inventing. As New Japan as it gets.
