A new study conducted by Age UK found that one in five female pensioners is living in poverty.
We're calling on the Government to set out a clear reform programme, in partnership with third sector organisations and others, to end poverty in later life: https://t.co/SUMZvSuTJc
We will be holding a public and community drop-in day at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre on Wednesday 29th September from 10am until 4pm.

@YourSSE you really need to get your customer services sorted. You're letting down all your customers but particularly the vulnerable & frail who cannot physically spend 45 mins on hold trying to speak to someone #ageUK
Wowsers, @YourSSE your outstandingly terrible service has shocked me again. 45 mins on hold yesterday with my 90 year old client only to get cut off when we finally got a person! And then had the nerve to call me for feedback this morning, pressed 1, can't even leave feedback 🤣
@yoursse appalling customer service...I have been on phone since 9.55, spoken to 3 departments and nobody has resolved this issue yet. Def one for the #ombudsman
Have been on phone to @SSE for over 90 minutes so far this morning trying to sort out something for an elderly and vulnerable client...dissappointed and frustrated doesn't come close
Hey @george_ezra you probably get this A LOT, but my son is a HUGE fan of you. We’re not key workers, just a normal family trying to get through lockdown as best we can. He’s 4 next week and I’m gonna be really cheeky and ask if you could wish him HB? His name is Gene.
"The next time you’re waiting for a bus to arrive or in a coffee shop, Put Down Your Phone; take a look around you.
It might seem like a small thing, but for someone who feels lonely, a smile, a hello or quick chat could help enormously."

Interesting read in particular the acknowledgement that ending loneliness is becoming harder due to ‘threadbare social infrastructure’. This was an undeniable issue for people in rural Wales.
