This Kenya vs South Africa “beef” will really make you realise that some of the damage colonialism did to the African mind might take generations to undo 😭
Take this lady for example. She posts a picture of a community that has managed to preserve its culture, language, identity, land, livestock and way of life and calls them “poverty ambassadors of Africa” because, in her mind, this is what poverty looks like.
And that right there is the problem.
We have been taught to look at an African who still looks African and immediately associate them with poverty. The closer you are to your traditional way of life, the more “backward” you must be. The more Western you look, dress, speak and live, the more successful you must be.
And the irony is, she genuinely thinks calling them “poverty ambassadors” is a flex while sitting there in a wig trying to look as far removed from her natural African appearance as possible 😭 Again, absolutely nothing wrong with wearing wigs,but sis, you cannot use someone else’s Africanness as evidence of their poverty while presenting your distance from your own as evidence of progress.
And this is why sometimes the insults Africans throw at each other tell you more than the actual argument. You can participate in the Kenya vs South Africa banter, it’s actually hilarious sometimes 😂😂 but every once in a while, pay attention to what people say when they are trying to insult each other. You will quickly realise just how much of Africa still measures itself using somebody else’s ruler.
@Creshandah what a shame 🚶🏿♀️
@magwaz3 While I understand we are angry but it is quite obvious this is a non governmental killing. Clearly its some unregulated people taking advantage of the outrage and are now dumping bodies all over.
We must withdraw any planned protest with immediate effect. Ours was to match peacefully & let our voices heard. We are dealing with a murderer who shows no sign of remorse to the murdered victims. He can do anything just to remain in power including burning children in churches.
What's interesting is that police officers have allowed the looting spree to go on without disruption. Not even a single teargas has been launched to the Mombasa goons. No presence of KDF or police shooting live bullets. The president has completely lost touch with the reality.
12. If you don’t train your mind to appreciate what is good, you’ll continue to look for something better in the future, even when things are great.
13. The belief that there is some future moment more worth our presence than the one we’re in right now is why we miss our lives.
@Calvinoo_ @georgediano Honestly it's not that there is no profit in maize farming, there is, It's what pays for my fees. The problem is with the constant interference from the higher ups that limits this profits. This inconsistencies with limited assurance is what is hindering farmers.
Moses kuria once told maize farmers that they have no contract with the govt to plant maize. It's their business to know where to sell their maize and not the business of the govt. Around that time, the current president told farmers from Rift Valley to start planting avocados.
