The events of Friday have truly cast a shadow over the community in Plateau state. The unfortunate collapse of the school building is a distressing incident, made all the more tragic by the sobering realization that it could have been prevented with proper oversight and regulation. It was evident upon inspection that the structure did not meet required standards, and its prolonged existence posed an ongoing threat to the safety of the public. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost loved ones, and we hope they find solace during this difficult time. As a government, we have committed to covering the medical expenses of all those affected by this tragedy, and we will spare no effort in ensuring they receive the best possible care. I have decreed the immediate closure of Saint Academy and have directed law enforcement to take action against any informal mining activities conducted in residential areas throughout the state. The welfare and security of our citizens, particularly our young ones, are paramount. We strongly urge all educational institutions to adhere to safety protocols and obtain the necessary authorizations from the JMDB before embarking on any construction initiatives.
