On World Soil Day remember only 16, 21 & 8% of land in AB, SK & MB, respectively are suitable for annual crop production. Our soils are essential for food production but are a very limited resource! We must ensure our soils are conserved & well managed for future generations.

Today, choose to remember high winds combined with dry, uncovered fields. Remember the soil blowing away and how that makes you feel. Then do something - this year - try cover crops, manage residue at harvest, get and keep cover on those fields so we don’t feel this way again
