Dallas College PD provided security at the Civilized Fest event today at the Cedar Valley Campus. While some attendees expressed concerns about our presence, it's important to explain its necessity. With an expected turnout of 2,500 people, large gatherings can pose safety risks.

Cpl. Gregory Norwood taught a session on Use of Force today at the CPA class. Our goal is to educate both our staff and scholars about the appropriate levels of force permitted in the field for making arrests or gaining control of a suspect.

A few days ago, Officers McRee and Fisher, assigned to Dallas College North Lake Campus, were approached by a concerned citizen about a lone kitten trying to cross the road. With Irving Animal Services closed, our partners at the Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas helped!

I had the pleasure of visiting Richland Campus where I enjoyed a good conversation with Deputy Chief Robert Baker, Sgt. Thomas Acevedo, and Officer Joanne Vallencourt. It took some convincing to get them to pose for a picture, but I approached it with respect, and it paid off!

Dallas College PD sent eight female officers to the Women of Law Enforcement Conference (WoLE) 2024 in Fort Worth, TX. We are committed to equipping our officers with the best training to support their professional growth. This annual conference empowers women in policing.

Congratulations are in order for Dr. Herbert Ashford of Dallas College PD on earning his doctorate in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University. Achieving this level of education is a significant accomplishment, with only a small percentage of people reaching it!
