I genuinely think joining the military is one of the greatest financial decisions young adults from low-income families can make.
I'm speaking from experience, so let me explain:
1. For the first few years, you potentially have no bills except a cell phone.
You live on base for free.
You eat on base for free.
Your healthcare is free.
Transportation costs are low.
Shopping on base is tax-free and likely cheaper.
2. After a few years and rank promotions, you're likely eligible to move off base. You'll receive a housing allowance based on your area and a food allowance, both tax-free.
3. When you move, the military covers all expenses and even gives you extra cash to help with other costs.
4. Because much of your pay is tax-free, the IRS likely places you in the lowest income tax bracket or the next one up, meaning you pay very little tax relative to your actual take-home pay.
5. You have access to the VA loan for purchasing or building homes with $0 down. Additionally, you can use Tuition Assistance to attend school completely free while serving.
@rawmic_@DonPomerleau First time Iโm seeing this. They gave all of this when we deployed. I know for sure the Afghanistan region. Explains why everybody got so jacked ๐
@america Get this communist lunatic off my timeline.
This weekend is about being the best, pounding beers, grilling glizzies, and blasting Toby Keith.
Ainโt nobody got time for this nerd.
The amount of hot dogs and Busch Light Apple I plan to consume this weekend is absolutely incredible
Happy birthday America! Youโre the best to ever do it ๐บ๐ธ
@BearsShowYo Confirmed the refs are from Bosnia. This shit is outta hand. USMNT literally getting pulled to the ground and the refs ainโt calling a thing
@GenericProfile4@alx@dunkindonuts@XMoney This is the real question. I doubt itโs glass, but that would be so sick. Instant classic you bust out 10 years from now for summer
@mikepat711 FSD was a godsend when I was driving 6hrs a weekend to go spend time with my family.
Now that weโve moved and my commute to work is 15 minutes, I canโt justify paying $100/month.
Iโll still heavily consider activating it for road trips.
