DPD responded this morning to an active shooter near the Cliffs Apartments at 818 Shugart Road. The scene is now secure and the suspect is being treated for injuries from a self inflicted gunshot wound.

There is no incident at Dalton Academy. There was an erroneous report made to law enforcement of a possible active shooter at the school, but police have responded to the school and we have confirmed that there is no threat at the school.
Traffic on Riverbend Road will be reduced to one lane until 3 PM each day for the rest of the week to make way for repairs (ending Friday, 9/23). There will be flaggers to direct traffic, but to avoid delays drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes.
