DPD responded this morning to an active shooter near the Cliffs Apartments at 818 Shugart Road. The scene is now secure and the suspect is being treated for injuries from a self inflicted gunshot wound.

Parents should not come to the school to pick up their children, there is no threat taking place at the school.

There is no incident at Dalton Academy. There was an erroneous report made to law enforcement of a possible active shooter at the school, but police have responded to the school and we have confirmed that there is no threat at the school.

School resource officers are remaining on campus, but all other responding officers are leaving the scene to go back onto routine patrol.

Traffic on Riverbend Road will be reduced to one lane until 3 PM each day for the rest of the week to make way for repairs (ending Friday, 9/23). There will be flaggers to direct traffic, but to avoid delays drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes.

TRAFFIC ALERT - DPD is investigating a crash with injuries near the intersection of I-75 and Highway 41 at the Rocky Face exit. Highway 41 is currently closed between the northbound entrance and exit ramps. Please avoid the area to avoid delays.
