In the aftermath of this Rafael Devers trade, Iโm so sure of this that Iโll pin it to my profile.
We will play near .600 baseball for the rest of this season.
We will be in the playoffs in October.
And this fan base will eat their words about Craig Breslow.
Scoring question:
Dodgers/Reds game: Williamson, as a bulk reliever, entered a 1-0 game and allowed 6 Rs. He was charged with an L but no BS.
Almost an identical situation as Friday with Rocker, who was charged with the blown save.
@ScoringChanges whatโs different here?
.@ScoringChanges Scoring question:
Kumar Rocker, as a bulk reliever, came in the 3rd inning with a 1-0 lead. He allowed 6 Rs and was pitcher of record for the L.
Why was he also charged with a BS - can you blow a save in the 3rd inning?
Any clarification would be appreciated

I am so proud of Warren Schaeffer of the @Rockies for knowing this rule, especially in the world of the universal DH.
The rule for the placed runner is that the last batter the previous inning is the placed runner at second. Well Schaeffer moved the lineup around and put the pitcher in Goodman's spot as the last batted out.
BUT...Schaeffer knows the rule. If the PITCHER is in the spot of the last batted out, you have the option to skip the pitcher (who was in the 3-hole) and go back one batter, in this case to Connor Norby in the 2-hole.
I think quite a few managers know this, although Don Mattingly really messed this up when he was the manager of the Marlins, be pinch running for the DH instead of inserting the pitcher and skipping the pitcher to run Jazz Chisholm, Jr.

.@ScoringChanges Small quirk in the 11th inning of the Orioles/Rockies game.
Hunter Goodman made the final out of the 10th. The Rockies lost their DH and brought in reliever Castano for Goodman in the 11th.
Yet, Connor Norby was the ghost runner in the 11th, not Castano
@SwagCarrigg@ScoringChanges Just went by the rule that I saw on MLBโs website. Probably would have pulled a quad running from 2nd lol.
Thanks for beating our rivals - watching that game was electric๐ค
@JAnstey04@ScoringChanges@MLB You learn something new everyday - didnโt know about the additional part of the rule. Just went by the definition onlineโฆ cheers

@redsoxpayroll But Iโm disappointed today. Not because we didnโt get Joe Ryan or a first baseman.
But because when you look at the fine print, the front office and ownership still reek of dysfunction.
You better hope this deadline doesnโt hurt both the short-term and long-term. Weโll see.
Thoughts on the trade deadline:
-SP price was really high. No one got a controllable starter and teams had to overpay for a rental
-Considering SP price, Iโm surprised we didnโt acquire Morton. Thereโs a hometown connection too - him and Breslow played Little League together
@redsoxpayroll Weโll see how the team and organization respond to this trade deadline but Iโm still very high on what this team can achieve. Weโll be squarely in the mix for the Wild Card and can still potentially challenge for the division.
