🎥🇸🇩 Senior U.S. Official Unaware of UAE-Ethiopia Base to Support Genocidal Rapid Support Forces
In a Senate hearing on April 21, State Department Bureau of African Affairs senior official Nick Checker admitted he was unfamiliar with Yale’s (@HRL_YaleSPH) reporting that shows using satellite imagery evidence of UAE-Ethiopian military cooperation to support Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces.
The support has only increased since, with new strikes in Khartoum reported in the past week, with drones flown directly from Ethiopia.
The official also declined to specifically call out the UAE by name or commit to doing more to pressure Abu Dhabi directly, despite the White House’s close ties to the UAE and despite having concluded that the RSF is committing genocide in Sudan.
When asked if ending Sudan’s civil war should be a U.S. priority, the official said “absolutely.”

@TheNation1993 Shabiya is peeing on its pants bc Abiy is coming after you, Assab port. You will regret the day you crossed the borders and attack Ethiopia. No more sovereign ኣር-ተራ
Sad to see old Eritrean liberation fighters depart. But, more relevant for the future is that the geriatric regime itself is dying off - who and what will replace it is the question. A plan for tranistion in Eritrea is essential.
🇪🇷 resistance movement "Brigade Nhamedu" opens an office in #Addis_Ababa, declaring that it would serve as "the headquarters for the establishment of future military centers." The Brigade is working to overthrow the gov. of #Eritrea's President Afwerki. https://t.co/KQHtb5sX0O
Warmonger socialist china sympathizer backward #TPLF is threatening to relapsing to war. 70 and 80 yrs old demented TPLF leaders never learn a thing and young generation is not coming to your rescue again.
New generation with contemporary &progressive ideas must lead #Tigray
#Ethiopia: #TPLF accuses federal gov't of violating Pretoria agreement, cites concern over “unilateral decisions”
The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has accused the federal government of “violating” the Pretoria Peace Agreement and making “unilateral decisions” that impact the people of Tigray. In a statement issued following a five-day Central Committee meeting, the party said federal authorities were enacting “proclamations, regulations, and directives” without consultation, and described the Pretoria Agreement as “the only link” currently existing between the two sides.
The statement follows recent political changes in the Tigray Interim Administration, including the appointment of Lt. Gen. Tadesse Werede as president on 8 April. In an earlier meeting held to mark the transition, TPLF Chairman Debretsion Gebremichael (PhD) pledged to work with the new leadership, while underscoring the need to maintain the administration’s “institutional independence.” In its latest statement, the party said it had “reaffirmed its commitment to fulfill its historical responsibility” in the work of the interim administration and to support efforts aimed at addressing the region’s “fundamental public demands.”

Forgot to include those who came from within #Eritrea. A historian excluding historical relevance can get confusing.
Secondly #Tigray is in #Ethiopia. #Eritrea participated in #TigrayGenocide & still occupied Ethiopian land.
Seeking for everlasting peace must be the solution.
The #Ethiopians came over from all parts of the country, near and far, from #Tigray, #Amhara, and #Oromo, some from more than 1000 km away, and occupied our land; they pillaged, they killed, and they burned people sometimes alive. We did not invade their land. Now as if all that was distant history, #Ethiopia's PM is mobilizing to invade our land again. We have not forgotten. We don't want to go through those atrocities again. We will defend and defeat the invaders as we did in the past.
Debretsion and his party are obstacles for #Tigray moving forward. It is proven the party is passé with ironclad ruling system and has no intentions for inclusive and power sharing governance in Tigray. The click is failed sack of bricks.
#Ethiopia: #TPLF pledges to work with interim admin. while maintaining ‘institutional independence’ – Chairman
TPLF Chairman Debretsion Gebremichael (PhD) has pledged his party’s commitment to work “in a coordinated way” with the Interim Administration of Tigray under President Lt. Gen. Tadesse Werede, while firmly asserting that the party will retain its “institutional independence.” In a Thursday meeting marking the leadership transition, Debretsion stated the TPLF “stands ready” to contribute to the administration’s mandates, adding, “We express our readiness to collaborate and support each other to achieve the interim administration’s missions in a short time.”
Reflecting on the past, Debretsion criticized the outgoing administration for having “failed to fulfill its missions” and in some cases “inflicted harm on the people of Tigray.” Emphasizing the need for swift restructuring, he said, “The main priority is for the Interim Administration to be reorganized in a way that swiftly fulfills the mandates expected by the people,” while stressing that TPLF's involvement will focus on restoring “our sovereignty” and building a government that reflects “the will of its people.”

#Just_in: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed appointed former #Tigray interim president Getachew Reda as his advisor on East African Affairs effective Friday April 11/2025, the Office of the Prime Minister said.
The question is not why Isaias Afwerki’s troops are committing human rights violations in Tigray (as we know he is responsible for worse against his own population in Eritrea).
The question is why Ethiopia government does not protect its own citizens?

Salsay Weyane Tigray strongly condemns remarks by H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo suggesting occupied Tigrayan territories be placed under a so-called "neutral body"—the Ethiopian Federal Government & allies.
This violates the CoHA & rewards war crimes, including genocide & ethnic cleansing. We reject this statement & demand its immediate retraction. The FDRE Constitution does not justify illegal occupation.
Salsay Weyane Tigray call on the international community & the AU Monitoring Team to enforce:
✔️ Immediate withdrawal of occupying forces
✔️ Safe return of displaced Tigrayans

Re: GSTS Calls for the Transformation of the Tigray Interim Advisory Council into a Full-Fledged Interim Council
@reda_getachew
-------------------------------------
Acknowledging the immense sacrifices endured by the people of Tigray during the two-year genocidal war and their collective resolve to secure lasting peace, heal the wounds of the war, recover and rebuild their livelihoods; their aspiration for a prosperous Tigray, characterized by a democratic political space achieved through a peaceful, inclusive, and transparent political transition that guarantees peace, safety, human security, the rule of law, justice, and a dynamic economic and social development;
Recognizing the current state paralysis, from the higher echelons of the Tigray Interim Administration (TIA) down to the Wereda and Tabias, precipitated by the ongoing internal conflicts within the TPLF, which continue to threaten the effective functioning of government’s institutions and structures, resulting in an overall dysfunctional state apparatus and sidetracking Tigray’s critical priorities; as well as due to lack of cohesive leadership and clear roadmap within the TIA, compounded by various external factors;
Alarmed by the continued plight of millions of IDPs and refugees, the suffering of millions in the forcefully and illegally occupied Tigray territories; dismantled governance and administrative structures of Tigray;
Recalling previous GSTS positions, recommendations and engagements with various stakeholders, including the comprehensive Tigray negotiation strategy (3rd Edition, 10 July 2022), Proposal for the establishment of TIA (19 February, 2023), position statements (31 January and 6 September of 2023), Proposal on the formation of an Interim Council (19 February 2023) as well as the GSTS mission to Tigray (February, 2024) and its subsequent Comprehensive Report on Tigray’s Priorties and Actionable Recommendations (7 April, 2024) and Tigray Grand Conference-2024 (15-17 August, 2024), all of which advocate for the establishment of an inclusive and representative Tigray Interim Council with moral, legal, and political legitimacy.
While acknowledging the recent steps taken by the TIA in establishing the Advisory Council, the GSTS strongly asserts that what Tigray needs at this critical juncture is a full-fledged Interim Council with a comprehensive mandate encompassing legislative, budgetary, and oversight functions (including over Judiciary and Regional Audit, the Pretoria Agreement and the Nairobi Declaration, EFFORT Enterprises, etc.); guided by a robust code of conduct and monitoring mechanisms.
Therefore, the GSTS calls for the immediate transformation of the Advisory Council into a fully empowered Interim Council ‘(ግዚያዊ ቤት ምኽሪ)’ with the powers and mandate outlined above, as well as those detailed in our previous proposals.

Rounded up, massacred and posted on social media: can Ethiopia bring justice for atrocities in Tigray? Ethiopia is about to start investigating crimes in the brutal war. But trust is at an all-time low and survivors feel forgotten
