Never again in your life wonder or ask why African footballers play for European & American sides.
Incompetence. Negligence. Ignorance. Corruption.
🌎🇨🇻 OFFICIAL: Cape Verde are OUT of the 2026 World Cup.
One of the most emotional, beautiful, proud teams to see in history of this competition.
500k population, a big heart. What a game, what a team.
There is a particular satisfaction in watching a country set out to do something deliberate and then watch the outcomes arrive.
Not every development plan achieves its aim.
I have written about the Moroccan football development plan more than once: nothing about their post-2022 trajectory is accidental.
It shows in the senior team, but also in the age-grade competitions and in the women’s game.
This is not a golden generation. It is a system. The combination of a solid development plan and a vast scouting process. The sort that could turn Morocco into a bonafide football country for many years to come.
PS: Morocco have now won as many knockout games at the World Cup as the rest of Africa combined. For comparison, Nigeria has never won a World Cup knockout game.
