If you want the full text of the BRICS joint declaration that was just signed in New Delhi, it's available here: https://t.co/9O0tpxtXbA
It's huge: 140 paragraphs, and almost 18,000 words - on an incredible array of subjects from the wars in the Middle-East, to AI, to agriculture.
I won't go into the details of it, if only because there is just an overwhelming amount of it, but the overall impression it gives is that this is what serious multilateral governance looks like - especially if you compare it to recent G7 summits, which only produce a handful of short reactive statements rather than anything resembling this kind of comprehensive institutional blueprint.
Here - from building alternative financial infrastructure to food security - you really get the feeling that, as difficult as it is with such a diverse group of countries, they're actually trying to build things and to answer the governance challenges of our age, many of which are ironically created by the G7 😅
That's the new era: half the world, quietly building the institutions the West is busy destroying.
I don’t want my house to look “well lit.” I want it to look like someone could read a book, fall in love, have an existential crisis, and disappear into the night.
Gov. Healey is signing a bill allowing destruction a viable baby, to save a mother's life--an inherently horrifying scenario
No men in the room. Is this a women's issue? And why are they gleeful?
Modern feminism is a religion. It regards abortion as a virtue. This is a "win"
America has developed a profoundly disordered relationship with dogs, and that relationship seems to have intensified considerably since the pandemic.
The growing anthropomorphism of pets has become a genuine cultural problem. Increasingly, The Dog People insist on inserting their animals into virtually every area of human life, treating dogs not simply as companion animals, but as substitutes for people, and expecting society to accommodate them accordingly.
Dogs are being described as children, their behavior is interpreted through a human emotional lens, and ordinary boundaries between human and animal life are increasingly treated as somehow cruel or unnecessary. Businesses, workplaces, restaurants, travel, housing, and social gatherings are all expected to accommodate the preferences of people who have decided that their dogs should be included.
There is nothing wrong with loving a dog. There is nothing wrong with being deeply attached to an animal that has been part of your household for years. But, it is an animal nonetheless, and your affection does not erase the fundamental distinction between a human being and an animal.
Society is not obligated to restructure ordinary human spaces around an animal simply because its owner has elevated the animal to the status of a family member.
