#chi2023 “selfi“ - nearly 4000 people, including 80 children, were in Hamburg for the biggest academic human computer interaction conference. So many inspiring people to talk to and things to see! I need sleep now :) @kaisavaananen@pokristensson@AniciaP@niteshg @matviienkoa
📢 Delighted to share our upcoming #CHI2023 paper.
We measured people's perceptions of machine consciousness, and explore the importance of #HCI in an era where machine consciousness is real, perceived or denied.
Sketching with Hardware: come along to the media informatics open lab day and see the results of the course - 18:00 on the first floor in Frauenlobstr. 7A in Munich. Here is preview what to expect (and there is the chance to talk to the makers, too) https://t.co/JAbIDiFTkr
Lunch break hunt for materials for a prototype that‘s due on Thursday.... Back on my bike, again in the rain, but this time it actually was fun. (And I bought a little kite, which was a big plus - memories to when fall was all about getting wet and muddy, you know...).
We had the great pleasure of spending two days with Yvonne Rogers at @HSGStGallen - both, her talk „on being challenged" and a lovely afternoon with @gisavino exploring the city of #StGallen were a real treat! Thanks for organizing
@JohannesSchoeni!
It is within the range of possibilities that I developed a new understanding of „being wet“ as well as the risks of proper rain, wet leafs, steep roads in switzerland and horrible ux with #komoot „offline“ on an old iPhone SE (false inputs) - anybody selling a #garmin explore?
I'm curious if Apple has a chance to replace or extend wearables like smart-watches with glasses in a shorter time... but otherwise, 20 years is fine with me. Plenty of time to write some papers and voice concerns!
AR/VR luminary Prof. Henry Fuchs predicts it'll be 20 years before head mounted AR displays are commonplace, during his keynote at the ISMAR 2022 conference. @ismarconf#augmentedreality
Really curios if "expression tracking" includes tappable #eyetracking (eg detecting #mutualgaze), how well it tracks users' (relative) position (#proxemics in the wild) and more research related specs! Awaiting your early feedback, #HCI community of #AcademicTwitter! 🙂
Always nice to see the exact copy of my right hand (well, the outer appearence) somewhere! Hope the talk went well, Matthias, and you got great #feedback!
&& for me, that's also exactly what #MR should be about - not (just) replicating "reality", but expanding it.
Thanks for having us, @bhecht! @glsavino, @EveSchade and I really enjoyed having the opportunity to share some insights into our research - please thank the whole team for taking the time!
Next up is a wild dream come true for a (former?) Apple fanboy like me: the presentation of current research results at #Microsoft headquarters in #Redmond 😱 (if we can even get in)
Finally reunited! eSTA was already approved the next morning, thanks to some very nice officers, @EveSchade and I were on the next (Flix!)bus in no time - @glsavino already had plans to further heighten the mood! #SpaceNeedle#Seattle
#Vancouver and #MobileHCI2022 were absolutely great! Too bad we have to leave on such a beautiful, sunny day - but we're looking forward to a couple of exciting days in #Seattle! Let's go!
@EveSchade @glsavino
@glsavino rocking this! Congratulations on your award for „Free as a Bird, but at What Cost?“ at #MobileHCI2022 in #Vancouver - always a pleasure listening to your talks!#AcademicTwitter pls find the paper here: https://t.co/PXH0IiT4xo
Thank you @ACMMobileHCI for the Honorable Mention Paper Award! I’m super happy to present my work „Free as a Bird, but at What Cost?“ on Thursday at the conference 🎉 if you want to have a look at the paper already: https://t.co/mYBDmwY6zc #MobileHCI2022#AcademicTwitter
Last minute fixes, even when everyone else is already done and waiting? Yeah, that doesn't scare me.... I know this situation too well from every single student competition, thesis deadlines, conference deadlines…
Glad my little design/3D print of your idea lightened the mood a bit - and helps to prevent desk rejects! Next time I'll have a better material ready for the print - and more abstracts to approve?🙂
We had a great kick-off today of our #CHItogether in St. Gallen (@sigchi#chi2023 writing retreat)! Thanks @JohannesSchoeni, @jasmin_niess and @HSGStGallen for hosting us!
Looking forward to the two (most likely intense 😄) weeks we will spend here working and writing together!
