Big News this morning : The George Washington statue near Fenway Park in Boston has been given the Highest Honour By the 🏴 Scottish Fans. Someone has got up there God knows how and placed a traffic cone □on his heed. 😅🤣😂😂. This is a proud moment for 🏴 Scotland.
👍🏻
Every single person who still cringes at the memory of trying to bullshit their way through an interview or exam question: today, the slate is wiped clean. Set down your burden of shame. Nothing - nothing, I say - could touch this.
@Colinlawson86 I think there’s a good few players close to or as talented as Ronaldo. Neymar, Hazard etc but what set him apart was his hunger and work rate. He made the absolute most of every drop he had which in itself is ridiculously impressive. Messi is on another planet talent wise though
John McGinn is casually enjoying the ULTIMATE football career:
• Winner of St Mirren's first major trophy (Scottish League Cup) in 26 years (2013).
• Winner of Hibs' first Scottish Cup in 114 years (2016).
• Scorer of Aston Villa’s winning goal in play-off final at Wembley, marking the club’s return to the Premier League following three year absence (2019).
• Part of Scotland team that qualified for Euro 2020, the country's first major tournament for 22 years (2020).
• Part of Scotland team that qualified for the country's first World Cup in 28 years (2025).
• Captain of Europa League-winning Aston Villa team, the club's first major trophy in 30 years (2026).
Legendary. 🏴
I really hope there can be a sensible discussion about whether football moves away from VAR
It’s been a number of years now, these aren’t teething troubles anymore, this is an addition to the game that currently takes more away than it gives, with no prospect of that changing.
Yes, there’ll be more things missed, but things like spontaneity & flow contribute hugely to what makes football so great - the trade off, arguably, hasn’t been worth it.
We still get human error, and always will - it just takes a lot longer with VAR
Seriously that is never a handball at Fir Park. The boy headed it 20 yards. The ref takes one look after VAR calls him over. Embarrassing for Scottish football.
Not trying to be that guy but the Scottish Premiership is so fun this season, individual games much more enjoyable to watch than 98% of Premier League matches
