@Tsportspulse@ItsMeMTJohnson Yes he was down but had just won the 6th round on all 3 cards. The stoppage was correct as the severity of the cut proved.
@Tsportspulse@ItsMeMTJohnson Just checking the scorecards. If I’m correct all 3 judges had Lewis winning the 6th round. 2 of them had Lewis winning the 3rd round and the other judge had Lewis winning the 5th. Hard to tell how it would have gone but the massive cut would have been hard to overcome
@Tsportspulse@ItsMeMTJohnson Lewis prepared for a different fight and wasn’t at his sharpest. He still did enough to force a stoppage and leave Vitali needing 80 stitches in his face. He was also starting to get on top in the fight. Kirk Johnson would have been 1st in line anyway not a rematch!
@LaCaroRosso In contrast to now it was very harsh and I didn’t agree with it but many felt we should have been more attack minded to try and get a better lead at the top. We obviously didn’t go on to win the league so the disappointment was correct in some respects.
@topskillsportuk Titles shouldn’t be awarded to anyone. They should be left blank as the stain on football that they are. Things could have transpired very differently in those seasons with different scenarios and the pressure involved in winning a title.
@stennbeeLFC@anfieldforge Players like Owen and Fowler would have benefitted. Both struggled to find anywhere near the same form later in their careers
@GigsandSwigs@TronCarterNLU He grew up playing golf in the one of the windiest cities in the world. I’m sure he knows when play should be suspended or not.
@anfieldforge Weve had the ‘new manager bounce’ plenty of times since the early 90’s. It didn’t end well
Let’s say we got a new manager now, one of us, Chelsea and Utd will still miss out on champions league football. no coincidence the team that will win the league has had sustained stability
RUUD VAN NISTELROOY:
"I once played for Manchester United against Milan, which was full of great defenders.
CAFU, MALDINI, STAM, NESTA – I didn’t even touch the ball.
In front of those four was GATTUSO, then PIRLO, and then SEEDORF—the strongest man in world football. It was a horrible night; I thought they would kill me if I touched the ball.
I could hear the sound of their hearts beating, and my own heart was pounding with fear.
They defended their goal as if they were in battle. Everyone was ready to stop me from advancing and to prevent anyone from shooting."
