VAWA is THE single piece of legislation that made the biggest difference in my life (and many many others). It represents safety for those who face immense danger, shelter for those who have nowhere else to hide, and hope for those who truly doubted it. #VAWA30
Tonight, more than 1,000 survivors, advocates, and allies gathered on the South Lawn to mark the 30th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act.
To any survivor: know that you are not alone.
Our Administration, and this community, has your back.

By taking away one's bodily autonomy and integrity, you are teaching her that others have control over her body, and therefore her... You are teaching her that her beliefs and opinions don’t matter. As a result, her sense of self-worth diminishes, and she learns helplessness.
Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world, however, not everyone has the weapon.#eduInequality

The Supreme Court just ended our constitutional right to abortion — but you can count on us to fight to make sure you get the care you deserve. Your local Planned Parenthood might still be providing abortions even if a ban may soon be in place. Call 1-800-230-PLAN.
History has taught us that abortion cannot be banned... It will happen… SIX out of TEN of all unintended pregnancies end in abortion. Abortion will either happen safely in a clinical setting…. or unsafely at the risk of women’s lives. #abortionrights#roeoverturned

There's such an overabundance of shame reserved for women. If she terminates, shame. She keeps the baby, shame. She loses the baby, shame. Can't conceive, shame. Has only one, shame. Has many, shame. Leaves baby with caregiver to work, shame. Doesn't work to care for baby, shame
