You have it backwards but you’re partly correct. They’re not getting promoted to procure a mate. Getting promoted ensures they likely won’t.

Women always try to marry up, not “settle”. Becoming an AE doesn’t help her find a mate; it raises her bar so her romantic peers vanish; she spins her wheels chasing the few alphas. Most settle in the end and hate it.

As soon as a woman gets promoted to executive, all of her former peers become invisible to her. She only wants senior executive or C-Suite guys at that point.
