@pgirguis Scale bar? Fresh water or salt? If it is about 1 cm in length, in a fresh water stream, and living under a layer of ice, it’s a caddisfly larva using a hollow piece of grass stem for protection. Otherwise, no clue.

@BowenLab1 More genes is not always better. Sometimes more genes just adds more noise. One good marker is better than any number of mediocre markers, and no marker is better proven (within its well-known limitations) than 16S.
