@sortedfood@JamesParkes I find it amazing that so many people leave all of the preparation to the morning itself. So many things can be made easier and better if you start them one or two days before. If anything it helps reduce so much washing up on the day. More time to enjoy the day itself.
@sortedfood Hope this is an annual challenge. Would be a
Fun thing to do every year and give the other normals a chance to win the title every year and build on their current knowledge
@sortedfood If you need a pan of pooling water. Preheat your pan before adding boiling water from the kettle. It splutters a little but it should be bubbling in the pan straight away.
@sortedfood Dishes being labelled as breakfast lunch or dinner foods should be abolished. When I was a child and had to go to school on my birthday I got to eat whatever I wanted. One year I had bacon cheeseburgers! Eat what satisfies your body and makes you happy.
@He1enW @sortedfood Cauliflower doesn’t freeze well usually it becomes very wet and mushy. Definitely make the cheese sauce ahead of time if it’s a roux based sauce. Stuffing is definitely okay to freeze, make t into balls or put in a shallow dish. Then let it fully defrost and put in the oven
@sortedfood Things that can be prepared early/day before to reduce the Christmas morning stress of cooking e.g. making roast potatoes until they’re almost ready and finishing in the oven on the day or making Yorkies and just putting in the oven last minute to crisp up and warm through.
@sortedfood Jamie. The other two would probably make something really nice and interesting. Jamie would give you food you really want to eat and have a food coma after :)
@sortedfood Kimchi jjigae is a terrific winter warmer. Jeyuk Bokeum is a really nice pork dish that’s easy to prep and cook. Dakgalbi is great with noodles or made into fried rice with leftovers. Jjajangmyeon is an amazing Korean/Chinese noodle dish that’s a popular takeaway in Korea
@sortedfood 5. I always have these in my cupboard. Amazing with a satay style pork mince stir fry with green beans. Although for obvious reasons I only eat them if I don’t have to do anything productive the next morning :).
@sortedfood I think I’ve said this before but more of a deep dive into African cuisine would be good (your friends at jolly know a couple of people). Also I don’t think Greek cuisine hasn’t had the lime light on social media for a while. In the uk maybe a deep dive of Welsh/Scottish/Irish?
@sortedfood Probably a nostalgia thing, but smoked mackerel heated up under the grill with some crusty bread and butter. Loved that as a starter growing up when the family were having a celebration at home.
@sortedfood Either an instant pot or a bread maker. My favourite meals take a long time to cook like ragu. I also love fresh bread but always have it on a whim so I’d like to be able to just throw it in a machine and make it whenever I feel like it.
