This movie is based on a true story.

In 1981, a 21-year-old backpacker named Yossi Ghinsberg set off into the Bolivian Amazon with two friends chasing the adventure of a lifetime. It nearly killed him.

After their raft smashed into rocks in the rapids, Yossi was swept over a waterfall and left completely alone — no food, no map, surrounded by jaguars, army ants and relentless rain. His friend Kevin barely survived the same crash, washing up five days downriver.

Most people in Kevin’s position would have gone home. Instead, he went straight to the consulates, begged for a rescue mission, and headed back into the jungle himself.

Nearly three weeks after they were separated, Kevin found him. Yossi later said it wasn’t the jungle that nearly broke him — it was believing no one was coming. Then he heard a voice calling his name.
