This DIY set up is super affordable. The only challenges will be whether the AliExpress sensors work and my terrible soldering work.

Winter project: I'm hoping to set up a DIY ESP32 soil moisture sensor with LoRa via Meshtastic or home assistant. I want my carrots to text me when they are thirsty!

@EvanKirstel Is this based on the 2023 news story? Does it actually exist? Haven't seen any photos of the facility beyond the drawings.
