My kids are going to mature and realize that their dad is not an asshole
He just wanted them to succeed in a world full of losers & lazy people with no work ethic.
Last night, I read the entirety of C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters. It's a novel told in the form of letters written by a demon to another demon instructing him on ways to manipulate his "patient" to do evil.
This one quote sounded familiar.
The Venn diagram between people who think you should get fired for using the R word and people who think you should be able to euthanize your child if it has Down syndrome is almost a circle
First of all, competitive golfers, as a class, play appallingly slowly. Now that that's out of the way...
If there's any situation where it's semi-excusable to take a few extra seconds over a putt, it's this extraordinary circumstance. This was from the first hole of the 4-for-2 team playoff last night at La Costa. Each player on each team plays a single hole at a time, so there would have been no one waiting on the tee for this group. An extremely high-pressure situation with no group behind and in fading daylight...it's okay to grind a little extra.
As for icing the other guys in his foursome, that's not great. I would be getting antsy if I were watching this. But there are extenuating circumstances that make a little bit of extra time understandable here, IMO.
One pace killer in college golf I think we can all agree should be stopped is the ridiculous over-involvement of coaches on various shots. Either allow caddies in this event or let the players sink or swim. We don't need multiple coaches and assistants grinding alongside their players over every four-footer or looming over every Rules decision. It's enough already.
That moment three months before the Maidan coup in 2014, when a senior Ukrainian deputy stood in Parliament and called the whole damn thing out.
Washington was orchestrating a civil war right on Ukrainian soil
He didnโt sugarcoat it: US-backed NGO's like USAID, operating straight out of the American embassy.
They were stoking the flames, riling up mobs, spreading chaos, and lighting the fuse to blow Ukraine apart from the inside.
"Unprovoked"

@Mary_is_Queen@__Isabella__007@faugnher To add... there are a lot of good women still out there that might be "secular" in our eyes, but they are really just waiting for the right man to lead them.
Women want to be led.
@Mary_is_Queen@__Isabella__007@faugnher Met my wife at a bar. Nothing wrong with it. And it has been one of life's great joys for both of us to grow in our faith together. Our faith and our marriage are both stronger for it.
Yup.
The ideal coach isnt a former super-athlete. The ideal coach is a high IQ grinder who had to fight for his varsity letter in college. A walk-on at UPenn sort of guy.
Saban, Kent State.
Meyer, U Cincy walk-on.
Cignetti, WVU walk-on.
Day, UNH
Kirby is an exception.
At my sonโs baseball game last night a few dads were all talking about another guy who coaches one of the younger teams in the same organization.
The one Dad said, โheโs a great guy and heard he was a very good baseball player back in the day and actually played in college but heโs a terrible coachโ
Went on to say how he knows the game but doesnโt do a good job teaching it to the kids and he doesnโt hold any of his players accountableโฆ
This is not uncommon.
Just bc a guy was a good former athlete doesnโt automatically leads to being a great coach.
In fact, the opposite is true most of the time. He could have succeeded at his sport due to a talent and never had to become a student of the game, learning all the x and oโs and refining his technique and mechanics required to become a great player.
Same thing applies to online fitness coaching. Just because a dude is jacked does not mean heโll make a good coach.
The best coach is usually the guy with average genetics who figured out on his own how to transform his body through hard work and built great habits over time.
He developed a method that worked for him and stuck with it, being very consistent years on end.
A good coach also lacks ego, has good social skills and more importantly is willing to listen to his client vent about their problems and challenges along the way.
While you can get anyone to write you a program or subscribe to a fitness app for workouts, some people really need a good coach to help them get the results they are looking for.
I think its hilarious that my boomer mom is so incredibly anti-spanking. She has deluded herself into believing that she and my father never spanked us (they did, a handful of times. Not often).
Anyone else have gaslighting boomer parents that rewrite their own history?
My sister was always in the camp of "never lay a finger on a child". She was blessed with two INCREDIBLY well behaved kids. Like, its unfair how easy going the kids were.
And then 5 years after kid #2 came kid #3. An absolute hellraiser.
She realized this one would need physical discipline from time to time. And she realized that her older two really well behaved kids were mostly a product of nature and not nurture. Absolute luck.
Kids are different and there is no "one size fits all" approach to parenting.
I love listening to childless people talk about disciplining kids when youโve personally seen your 3 year old son pick up a shovel and smack his brother full swing in the back of the head and then run.
Ukrainian nationalism has always been highly inconsistent because it wasn't organic. It was a movement heavily pushed by foreign entities in order to put a wedge between Ukraine and Russia. And it worked, for the most part, at least with the younger generation.
๐ German client media has completely lost the plot.
BILD is running a full meltdown because Ukrainian tennis player Oliynykova just compared Gazprom โ Russian energy giant, to Nazi Germany.
The irony? Her next opponent is Russian player Diana Shnaider (German sounding surname) while Oliynykova herself carries a very Russian sounding Ukrainian name.
German client media is now so deranged itโs cheering on a Ukrainian athlete smearing Russian gas as โNaziโ while a Russian with a German name stands in the way. It's not Volkswagen she's raging about but... Gazprom the former provider of cheap reliable energy to.... Germany.
This is what official German hysteria looks like in 2026 โ completely upside down and self-loathing.
@TallRomanStatue@loganclarkhall My experience at country clubs is mostly in the midwest and Florida. They skew 85% republican. Not even joking.
There's a reason the term "country club Republicans" exists.
Most of these men arent hard right wingers, but they generally prefer less government and lower taxes.
My then 3 yo was playing with the knobs on the gas stove. I warned her to stop multiple times. Its dangerous. Finally, I smacked her hand... hard... she never did it again.
Complex reasoning doesnt work with 3 year olds.
(Worth noting: Sam Hyde does not have kids)
Hitting your kids is in the same category as circumcision, iPads, strict adherence to the CDC vaccine schedule---it is for Ns, goyim, and walmart pajama people. It lowers IQ (Straus, 1995), increases aggression (Gershoff, 2016), is less effective than a timeout, and requires escalation to keep working. The replies to articles like this are filled up with the Dumbest People Who Ever Existed saying "it worked for me" and then genuinely malicious and hateful morons dropping reaction gifs of like daffy duck swinging a belt
"EVERY STATE IN AMERICA ALLOWS YOU TO PHYSICALLY CORRECT YOUR CHILD. It's legal. It's fun. Bring it on." -- profile says: Cat Sanctuary Dad. Unyielding steel. Workouts, keto, cat chaos, anime rants. Godzilla, Gundam, Mazinger, Ultraman, classical art, manga.
If you hit your kids, you will create permanent emotional distance with the only person/people you could ever be that close to, not to mention sending them down the road of being as much of a lost fuckup loser as you are who will hit their own kids, or wont, but only after spending a decade figuring out why they reflexively apologize all the time.
Reminds me of the time I brought my dad and his Jewish friend to my club, and his Jewish friend was the absolute embodiment of the unathletic Jew. What a painful round.
What's worse? He had been taking lessons. Soooo bad.
