Israel says the underground facility, codenamed “Deep Layer,” was built inside a mountain at Syria’s Scientific Studies and Research Center, known as CERS or SSRC, near Masyaf.

The operation was carried out by the Israeli Air Force’s elite Shaldag unit alongside Unit 669. Israeli troops spent just over 2.5 hours on the ground and withdrew without casualties.
