The right-wing press want you to believe scroungers milk the bloated ‘welfare’ budget. Here’s the reality: UK households are missing out on £19bn a year in unclaimed benefits due to complexity of system and feelings of shame. @patrickjbutler https://t.co/45L9rel495
Writing and researching autistic children for group presentation, whilst waiting for second part of Autism assessment, processing first part of Autism assessment, and also questioning if I am #Autistic is far too much for my tired brain to handle today #burnout
@SensationBlack0 Thanks for your response, I know it is often recommended by medical professionals, I'm just wondering if people who have had the therapy themselves agree that it works.
Having looked, the evidence supporting it seems a bit iffy too.
@NandortheElf Thank you. It's definitely worth it, and helpful to be reminded that just because it's recommended, doesn't mean it's right. There's so much misinformation/ medicalisation around autistic people and "challenging behaviour" *shudder*
Just spent ages researching Positive Behaviour Support #PBS before realising it's #ABA in disguise, and isn't supported by #ActuallyAutistic community! Time to start again, but glad I'm not promoting traumatic, ableist nonsense in my presentation
My student is conducting a scoping review on autistic wellbeing. Of the >3500 papers we screened, most take measures of wellbeing of the PARENT/CARER. Not the autistic person. That tells you all you need to know about most traditional autism research.

And THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for all your commets but it would really helpful to have people saying stuff on the you tube page because it is public thus will show the world how important A.A.C. is
Hunt smoothly says he'll take "whatever tough decisions are necessary" after saying there'd be public service cuts - why are such “difficult” decisions always on the backs of poorest & public services, when instead he could take the "difficult" decision to up taxes on wealthiest?
I love my new GP! Feel so lucky to have someone who A) listens B) explains processes C) is kind D) agreed to the referral I asked for! Put that appointment off for YEARS and feel so validated by the experience. Thank you #NHS , thank you new GP, yay to steps towards a #diagnosis
Dare I say I'm ~proud~ of how this turned out. I've always loved writing, it's been great to use that side of my brain for something other than essays. Feedback appreciated #Pacing#Blog#Placement#OT#Student
