Speaking to @TOLOnews, @UNICEFAfg Chief of Communication @DanTimme1 said restrictions on girls’ education will affect #Afghanistan’s development, especially in the education and health sectors.

In recent weeks, floods affected thousands of families across #Afghanistan damaging health facilities, schools & essential services.
This week, @UNICEFAfg delivered assistance to 238 flood-impacted families in Laghman, helping families meet their #children's urgent needs.
📚 my statement on the situation at Islam-Qala Border crossing between Afghanistan and Iran, & the impact of the escalating crisis on #children.
Together with partners, @UNICEFAfg is working to esure essential services can be maintained & scaled up, if needed.
@UNICEFROSA
Afghanistan is the only country in the world banning girls from secondary school. Millions of girls are being denied the chance to learn.
Don’t call this normal. Change is still possible - if we refuse to accept a world where their futures are erased.

“The EU remains committed to #Afghanistan's most vulnerable ensuring lifesaving nutrition reaches children when it matters most." says @EUCdAtoAFG Boskovic Pohar.

#Children screened & treated with therapeutic food. #Mothers learning to prepare healthy meals from local ingredients.
At @UNICEFAfg supported day‑care centres in Kabul, my colleague Khadija and nutrition counsellors like Yasman bring prevention, screening & treatment together.
My colleague Fathia, @UNICEFAfg Chief of Western Field Office, leads a winter kit distribution, ensuring Asena & her mother receive vital support.
As leaders or frontline workers, female humanitarians are critical at every level to reach women & #children, especially girls.
‘Earlier, the tent was like fire in summer, freezing in winter, 80 students per class,’ says Khalida, a teacher in Kabul.
Today, her students sit comfortably in a proper classroom built by @UNICEFAfg w/ support from @JapaninAFG. Children learn better when condition improves.
.@UNICEFAfg is grateful to @francediplo_EN & our sister agency @FAOAfghanistan for this collaboration to address #FoodInsecurity & #malnutrition for earthquake-affected families in eastern Afghanistan.
When we align around children, real impact follows: https://t.co/oceZ0jXE9e
When Somaya was suffering from #malnutrition, her mother Negar brought her to a clinic in Herat weekly, till she recovered. Behind every statistic is a child like Somaya & a mother who never gives up.
@UNICEFAfg's focus: prevent malnutrition where we can, treat it where we must.
.@UNICEFAfg promotes nutritious home-based diets. But today commercial baby foods are increasingly common.
With over half of young children living in severe food poverty, safety & quality of these foods is critical. With @UNCTAD we are regulating the import.
@unafghanistan
Afghanistan remains among the emergencies that need urgent support in 2026. Sustained funding will help @UNICEFAfg ensure healthcare for 12 million people, emergency education for 5.5 million children, and protect nearly 10 million children from diseases: https://t.co/YfsUX9pWWR
At today’s launch of Afghanistan’s revised wasting guideline, the shift are clear: prioritizing life-saving treatment for the most severe cases, strengthening home-based diets for prevention, empowering community’s role and for the first time - guiding care for infants <6 months.
Every child has the right to learn.
In Afghanistan that right is being denied: 2.2 million girls are excluded from secondary school since the ban was enforced in 2021 & boys’ enrolment is stagnating as well.
An education system in crisis is putting an entire generation at risk.
The Mother & Child Cash Transfer programme by @UNICEFAfg shows what holistic investment looks like.
In 2025, it supported 25,000+ households in #Afghanistan with predictable cash linked to health, nutrition & care, going beyond screening and treatment to strengthen prevention.
I’m grateful @UNICEFAfg & partners reached children in #Afghanistan with winter kits before heavy snow fell. #EarlyActionSavesLives. Warm boots, coats & sweaters protect children through the brutal cold. As winter tightens its grip, we need continued support to reach every child.
