You are actually correct. I have been in the industry since 1985 and have witnessed FOUR complete turnarounds (and several mini ones). This one is a bit worse, but still not as bad as the late 60s and early 70s, when every studio was facing bankruptcy... and led to the renaissance of the FIlm School Generation. There are signs the next one is already happening.

As a former exec, there are so many reasons the industry has been going down hill -- starting, actually, in 1995 when Disney was allowed to buy ABC. This was far WORSE than Disney buying Fox, because it allowed Wall Street to look at entertainment as a hub of merger and acquisition business not the crazy fringe but occasionally explosively profitable hedge fund baby it was prior to that. This, in turn, twisted it away from the wildcat creativity and risk taking (as long as the money could be controlled, well, at least most of the time) and turned it into something dominated by power points and attempts to tame it. That process worked for Sony, but proved disastrous for Kinney, Gulf & Western, Matsushita, Seagrams, and GE! Only the arrival of DVD and then streaming kept the Wall Street money in for as long as it was. Now, the vultures are still there, but the will to try to rebuild is not. The fact that so many of the successful people were burned out of the Palisades, and see just how dismissive the city and Newsom were to them, makes their desire to come back so much less.

@cvspharmacy Do better. Once again I have gone more than five days without being able to pick up a refill. My doctor says he approves, yet I am told at the pharmacy it has not been. Who is responsible if something goes wrong because I cant get my meds for over a week regularly?
