🇧🇯 Coup d'état in Benin Republic... yet another one in West Africa in under 5 years.
Successful or not, same script: “politicians are corrupt, elections are rigged, people are hungry and hopeless, and of course insecurity.” It’s a pattern. A canary dying in the coal mine.

Nigerian politicians, please wake up!
The arrogance of this APC government (and PDP before them, truth be said), the nepotism, the suffocating corruption, the incompetence that has turned Nigeria into a global poverty capital... if you don’t change course, you are writing the invitation letter for khaki boys and it will be bloody.
There is still time, but the clock is ticking loud!

Tinubu’s government, the rubber-stamp legislature, the captured judiciary, all of you need to look in the mirror. You are not too big to fall. A military takeover in Nigeria will not be a reset; it will be a catastrophe of biblical proportions.

Restructure the country NOW. Fight insecurity so farmers can return to their farms and food inflation can come down. Build truly independent democratic institutions & an impartial judiciary that serves justice, not the highest bidder. Stop stifling opposition and weaponizing state agencies.

States & Local Governments: stop the obsessive sycophancy of decamping to APC while your people rot in poverty. Deliver dividends of democracy, not just photo-ops.

Let citizens participate in governance beyond queuing to vote every four years. Save the youth from despair. Involve the diaspora - their remittances are one of the engines that power our economy.
Govern, don’t just scheme for the next election 'cos you may not even be here to see it!

Because I can assure you: if a coup happens in Nigeria today, millions (in their pain and ignorance) will pour into the streets jubilating. They’ve forgotten how bad military rule was… because how exactly is this democracy better for the average person right now? 🤷🏽‍♂️

Two tweets from Trump were enough to make this government pretend to be serious about the Islamist terrorism and insecurity ravaging our country, but for about a week. Imagine what real governance could do 🥺

Our politicians are mostly old and quarter to go... so why not leave a legacy of good governance for posterity sake?

Restructure Nigeria now, or peacefully agree to split up the country and save millions of lives!!!
If Nigeria falls to the barracks, Africa falls with it 💔
