Madison is a great writer and a dear friend. She’ll be an asset wherever she lands. One of my favorite pieces of work she did was tracking down Alysa Liu’s hairstylist and telling her story when the gold medalist was the biggest name in sports.

Tyler is a jolt of energy and enthusiasm, with a sense of humor and a sense of storyline adventure. Another rising star who has a promising future ahead. He will continue to do great work.
Grateful for the time I got to work with Tyler. Each story, lede, tidbit became better because of him. More importantly, the laughs he brought to each meeting, Slack and chat.
He makes sports coverage what it should be: Informative, accurate and fun. A true real one
I was lucky enough to work with Mike for the past two years. He’s an energetic, versatile, incredibly skilled writer who works his ass off. Most importantly, he’s a great guy who I’ll miss hanging out with every day.
Mike is a fantastic college sports writer, so please reach out if you know of anything!
Mike is awesome and his work speaks for itself--just take a look at what he's done recently. Knows the industry as well as anyone and always hungry to do more. Next outlet will get a steal.
Greg Bishop is every NFL writer’s favorite NFL writer. The written word is a precious commodity, one all of us should cherish, and his ability to string them together and tell stories that stick with you hours, days, weeks, months later is unparalleled. SI didn’t deserve him.
Another huge loss for SI. Steph is a fantastic writer, reporter and colleague. She would find time to drop massive Olympics features while deep into baseball season. Will read her on anything.
I can’t count how many times Tyler’s energy and sense of humor buoyed me during a shift. He’s a fantastic teammate and an extremely talented writer and editor who made me better every time we worked together.
Whoever hires him next with be incredibly lucky.
Tyler's enthusiasm for the gig is infectious. Hard not to leave a meeting with him thinking about a dozen new things and a big smile. He's helped ideate and pull several great projects off in addition to day-to-day action. 🫡
And I have to add @Stephen_Douglas, who is a master at finding unique, fun ways into stories. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have a spot for any of the folks impacted today.

SI lost amazing writers/editors/journalists/people today, who would be incredible assets to any newsroom. I’ve worked directly with @tylerlauletta@MikeMcDanielSI@madisonwsports for 4+ years and wish I could for another 20. Don’t hesitate to hire them.
Tyler’s passion for this job is unmatched and I’m always in awe at how deeply he throws himself into everything he does. He’s absolutely crushed projects at SI CFB the past few months.
Getting someone who works their ass off like he does will be a massive win for his next stop.
Mike McD is an incredibly talented writer and knows everything there is to know about college sports and beyond. (He’s also a great person.)
This huge loss that will be someone else’s gain. Hire Mike.
Steph is a terrific writer who was a must-read long before we ever shared a masthead. A loss for us will be someone else's gain. Look forward to what's next.
I loved working with Tyler. He has this frenetic energy that makes big events feel huge. His whimsy ideas make you love your job. Someone you want to have in the trenches with you.
Tyler is a certified legend of the game, yet another awful loss. If you need someone with a fantastic editing eye and an airtight bullshit detector (two qualities in short supply these days) he's there for the taking

When I was a kid, all I wanted to do was write cover stories for Sports Illustrated. I loved every day I got to do that — for more than 12 years. I’m part of the layoffs today. Now I’m standing on the side of the highway, holding a cardboard sign. It says: WILL WRITE FOR FOOD
