The promise of capitalism isn’t that everyone will become rich. It’s something more human: that your life belongs to you.

You are an individual capable of learning, creating, building and becoming more than the circumstances handed to you.

A good society should want fewer people crushed by burdens they cannot escape. But the highest aspiration isn’t making those burdens permanently comfortable, it’s removing barriers between people and their potential.

There is dignity in saying: I built this. I learned this. I earned this. I chose this. I helped someone because I valued them, not because either of us was forced.

Capitalism doesn’t tell the struggling person to accept his place. It tells him his present condition need not define his future. It protects his freedom to think, create, trade, fail, try again, prosper and give.

The goal isn’t a society where everyone has someone else to carry them.

It’s one where fewer people need carrying, and more experience the pride of standing on their own.

Capitalism is the legal protection of your right to freely pursue your own happiness by any means that doesn’t violate another individual’s equal right to do the same.

Socialism reverses the principle: it turns another person’s life, labor, and property into an entitlement to be pursued through political force.

Capitalism says: pursue what makes you happy, but earn it.

Socialism says: if someone else has what you want, acquire political power and make them surrender it.

One protects the pursuit of happiness. The other mistakes redistribution for its achievement.

German political writer David Brough says he was beaten, insulted, ostracized and mistreated “every day” by Muslim classmates while attending school in Wuppertal, Western Germany, claiming they targeted him because he was German, gay and refused to “submit to Sharia.”

Brough says that when he reported homophobic attacks and abuse to a school guidance counselor, he was told: “David, we are a school of diversity. You just have to endure it. You have to tolerate other cultural conditions. And in Islam, being gay is haram, a sin.”

Calling his former school a “Sharia school,” Brough said that conditions in German schools have since become even worse and accused German politicians of abandoning children in the name of diversity, saying: “The worst part is that they sold out our children.”

Activist: "Routine use in feed, then."

Dairy farmer: "Illegal for years. Growth promoters went 20 years ago. You're describing a chicken shed in a country I don't farm in."

Activist: "You can't prove it's not in the milk."

Dairy farmer: "I can prove it 3 times a week, because they test it 3 times a week and send me the sheet. When did you last get a sheet on your oat drink?"

Activist: "That's different."

Dairy farmer: "It is. Nobody tests it. Mine's the most inspected liquid in your kitchen and it's the one you're scared of."
