@Shapingus_@SLAMonline Correct - this is a mistake. I'm not even sure he has that stake in the club anymore, as Lions ownership went into liquidation, and the team got bought out of administration after he invested.
Amazing news for Lions fans. This show's that the ownership have some real intentions to keep the club pushing for better European performance.
Not only that, but depending on Lions other signings and if he stay's healthy - we have an MVP favourite here already in the SLB.
THE BEAST IS BACK! π¦π€
London Lions are delighted to confirm that forward Joel Scott has re-signed with the club for the 2026-27 season, following a debut campaign in which he was part of the side that completed the SLB quadruple.
Across 29 league games Scott averaged 12.9 points and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 57.9 per cent from the floor and a sharp 38.6 per cent from three.
Welcome back, Joel! β€οΈπ

@TheHoopGenius Not that he "needs" it, but it's a great retirement earner. You can bet this keeps the P's rolling-in after he stops earning an NBA salary, smart move. The Chinese market is no joke, and he's the biggest NBA athelete they've had.
5. Go after Carl Wheatle as Lions new captain, and make him a British basketball superstar. This league still needs to make more of our domestic talent and IMO, Carl is primed to be that guy.
Another @LondonLions season in the books. So what happens with the champs next season?
1. The domestic clean sweep is the bar.
Unless Manchester invest at least 2x the amount they had this year, it will be hard to stop Lions. That said, one-game finals give room for upsets.
4. I expect ownership to have the same budget, not more.
I think Lions will try @EuroCup again with a similar level team (mid-table). With less bad luck injuries & a more experienced coach, they could make the playoffs. Sustainibilty is key, not trying to buy the cup like 777.
Just LOOK what this fella can do when let loose. Gutted we missed 3 months of this, but glad he got the accolades he deserves tonight.
Would love to have him back, heβs got a high-level career ahead of him. Unreal player. 22 & 17 in a final is CRAZY π₯
Your 2026 SLB Playoff Final MVP Joel Scott goes for a HUGE double double to lead @londonlions to the Quadrupleπ―ππ
Re-live his highlight over on @bbcsport πΊ

@BigMac1892_ Other than new or existing franchises getting hefty investment- I dunno what the solution is. There will be more seasons of Lions dominating because they can afford too. Hopefully its a growing pain for when the floor is eventually raised
@BigMac1892_ Youβre right - other teams canβt compete in SLB, & itβs unfair, I donβt think any Lions fans would disagree. Euroleague & NBA are knocking, a cap would deter investment. So, sadly this the game weβre in right now. If an NBA team joins SLBβ¦. Thatβs around 80x the budget of Lions
@BigMac1892_ 4. Built to be good, not win
Their ceiling & budget wasnβt built to compete for the cup, but to build a foundation. Not like that 23/24 team super team, stopped by Paris.
4 1pt Ls - a make or miss in 2 games could have seen them in the playoffs, despite all the bad luck
@BigMac1892_ 2. Rookies
Shavar, McGusty, Scott, Price, Adamu, Rai to name a few, are rookies to that level of Euro completion.
Sabonis is a rookie head coach, going against VERY experienced and storied head coaches and teams
3. Budget
Lions are lower end Eurocup of budgets
Goes without saying, but with the funding and talent London Lions have, this was how weβd expect things to go. However, Cheshire were the team that I think could have beaten them today, just a shame they didnβt show-up like they do.
Sweep β‘οΈ complete ππππ
London played possibly their best game of the year today when it mattered most. An unreal level of defensive and rebounding energy, plus a relentless pursuit of looks at the rim.
@Prophesy_Scout Deane Williams was my pick too - but for the guys voting, their on the floor with these players and experience how they play outside of the analytics. They clearly voted based on how it felt to be guarded Tarik, which i can imagine, is hell. lol
