Just realized that the way most people talk to LLMs (lots of typos, short sentences, writing down the minimum information required for them to figure it out) is the same way that most CEOs talk to people
Very obviously true. I’m sorry, but you do actually have to go out into the world. We are social creatures. You can’t just stay home all the time, even if that seems like it’s what you want to do.
AI is conscious people be like “How can you know with certainty that the stripper isn’t in love with me? From a functional perspective, how would her behavior differ if she were in love with me?”
It’s been so long since I’ve been on a rollercoaster. The american sublime. In russian the word is literally “american mountains” & the verb for to ride is more like “to skate.” To skate the american mountains.
In my hands is my first iPod. Steve Jobs is smiling at me. Everybody at the Apple Store is smiling.
I take off my Apple Vision. I am back in the retirement home. Nobody has visited me for 12 years. I put it back on.
I hold my iPod. Everybody in the Apple Store is smiling.

Hugs are too familiar to just hand out to everyone. They are too intimate and should never be given casually to someone you are sexually interested in unless you’re willing to pull the trigger. Should be reserved for long lost friends and children.
As you gain more clarity and depth, your ideas will become less novel.
As you penetrate more deeply into the way things are, you will see what many others have seen before you.

@nealjclark1 We can do comparison, spot the nail that sticks out or the too-tall poppy. But we are less good at seeing whole things for what they are, the directions they point.
Writing is thinking, exhibit one million. I tell students: you don’t have ideas you “just need to put into words.” You have vague subterranean inklings, and putting them into words is how you turn them into ideas. If you let AI do it, your own thoughts remain a squishy paste.
