Today was Outdoor Learning day! Sts has fun exploring Capacity with snow. Making predictions of how many scoops it would take to fill the container. We walked to our outdoor learning space, Landon observed “There is nothing here! Because it’s winter!” We followed some dog tracks!
Yesterday and today’s QOTD were written by Brooklyn and Calvin. Brooklyn asked “Do you have a fish?” And today Calvin asked “Do you like the colour blue?” Sharing that he “likes the colour blue because it’s my favourite colour.”
Our first in person learning question of the day was created by Calvin! He asked “Do you like O’Canada?” Today’s superstar Ariah, determined that yes had the most and no had the least. So happy to be back and sharing these learning experiences with you ☺️
We look forward to seeing you at the following locations today. Please note... You do not need to be a student at the location where we are Pop UP Program location . For more info https://t.co/QmXtRZ6Cyb
Although it’s not our ideal way of learning, we still had a great first day! There were a few learning curves along the way but overall, the day was a success and we were happy to see our Sts smiles! Looking forward to seeing you all again tomorrow morning ☺️
Today’s math chat involved patterns and identifying the core (the part that repeats). Miss Standring started a pattern and Sts then labelled the attribute and extended it. Brooklyn circled the core. After we looked at all the patterns on our Pyjamas to identify what repeats.
Today we worked on pattering various ways using snowflakes. Size and colour were the attributes we identified we were using. Brooklyn and Nikxyn noticed patterns in their Duplo structures. “It’s a Christmas colour pattern!” Brooklyn
Gearing up for the holidays Landon asked “Did you watch Home Alone?” He used a variety of resources, including Miss Standring’s sweater to assist in his writing. Most Sts said yes and Levi shared “I like Home Alone cause he sets traps."
@N8ureNate@outdoor_ed@N8ureNate Thank you for the suggestions! We searched our designated outdoor learning space as well as many other tree populated areas in our school yard. The Sts had a blast and we are on the look out for the winter birds daily!
This afternoon Kole re-created his McDonald’s restaurant serving Levi. Carrying out each step from ordering, paying and the delivery of food. Mohamad also created a “fish shop” to serve fish to his customers.
Winter bird watch started today and we were ready! But the birds were not. 😔 We searched high and low using “binoculars” and identified a sea gull and a crow. We spent some time discussing winter birds and their identifying markings. We will keep watch all week!
Today we discussed patterns with materials Sts were building with. Kole noticed that his pattern was “red, blue, red, blue!” Calvin created an AB pattern and was challenged to create a complex pattern. “It’s green, green, white, white, green, white.”
Landon asked “Do you like Pikachu and Squirtle?” He used popcorn words and a letter chart as guidance. Andrew, today’s superstar determined yes had the most and no had the least.
With no snow outside to make snowmen with, Christmas asked Room 1 Sts if they wanted to build a snowman with cotton balls. It was great to see the various snowmen creation the Sts came up with!
