I was hacked and evidently the hacker sent out private messages with a link! I am so sorry, please disregard! It has taken me over a week to get back into my account!
More than 40 years ago, I arrived in Chicago in search of an idea. I was a young man looking for purpose, who believed deeply in America, was inspired by the Civil Rights Movement, and wanted to be a part of something larger. The America I believed in was one where everyone has opportunity, everyone is seen, everyone belongsโbecause that was an America that had a place for me, too.
To everyone who helped bring the Obama Presidential Center to life, thank you. Michelle and I are so grateful for all your dedication and hard work over the years.
I got a little teary-eyed tonight thinking about my mother-in-law, Marian Robinson.
It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby โ a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist โ to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and weโre thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.
Chicago, itโs good to be home!
Michelle and I built the Obama Presidential Center to be a place where people of all ages can learn, play, and work โ and we can't wait to welcome you all later this week!
