It's kinda neat that some spells in ReGothic have small interactions with the world, for example Fire Bolt can light up torches and Ice Block can create patches of ice on water that you can walk on for a very short time.
It's kinda cool.
Man, when your character gets drunk or high on swampweed in ReGothic, he controls like a fucking brick.
Also if you learn acrobatics, which unlocks a dodge roll, and then try to dodge roll while drunk, he just fucking falls over, it's kinda hilarious.
Although this does kinda create a new problem where sometimes the game tells you that the lock has very high complexity but it's easier to unlock than some of the less complex locks, it can be a little weird.
Still better than what the original had, imo.
I like that Gothic remake actually gives you a reason to level up lockpicking.
In OG you could brute force locks with enough picks or just save scum your way through them, but in the remake there's a new mini-game that can be too difficult without proper lockpicking skills.
One thing I REALLY don't like about the Gothic Remake - the new intro cinematic when you start a new game is kinda buns.
It tells you pretty much the same stuff as the original one but it kinda tries too hard to be cool and becomes kinda cringe. Not a fan.
I should probably replay the original Gothic 1 after I'm done with the Remake to properly compare them, but I'd say the Remake is pretty good so far.
I'm in chapter 2, I joined the Swamp Camp just like I did when I played the original, it's going well so far.
Somehow got the entire Old Camp in Gothic Remake to hate me. I guess it's some kind of bug.
Thankfully I was able to fix it by hiding all my shit in a chest and then letting half the camp beat the shit out of me, people in towns don't normally kill you in Gothic.
Played a bit of the Gothic Remake.
I have played the original and I'd say this feels pretty similar to it, I'm having a good enough time with it so far.
