One of my sources is a retired rugby professional who now coaches youth rugby in England and his position is that it greatly improves the self confidence and self esteem in his players.

My position is that with all the risks, the intrinsic values learned are worth it

Two neurosurgeons wrote a report on CTE cases and found only 63 football players diagnosed with CTE in the past 10 years out of roughly 44 million players per year, with almost all cases being professionals.
