Also, HSM can't stay in office because the whole country is burning security-wise, politically, and economically. The only country he can travel to without protocol and arrangement is Ethiopia. Kenya and Uganda are exceptions, and he has no face to see Egypt, though he is still trying to find a way. As Turkey and the Gulf states are busy with the Palestine and Israel issues.
Hassan is doomed and Somalia need to think about the next President.
Credible sources within the security services have confirmed that at least six of the attackers/Al-Shabaab fighters at the NISA Banadir branch HQ, Godka Jelao were in fact Al-Shabaab defectors who had been integrated into the NISA Duufaan Brigade.
The vehicle used in the attack was a given NISA vehicle number seven which was in the garage for repairs. The critical question is, how did the Alshabab attackers know that vehicle number 7 was in the garage?
The six Duufaan Brigade members who took part in the attack came from the defectors’ program and had apparently been added to NISA by the agency’s chief, Mahad Salad, quite recently without following proper procedures.
During the attack, the assailants freed several Al-Shabaab prisoners from the cells. These prisoners then fought alongside the attackers. In total, 13 people were killed, including six inmates.
More information is emerging, and I will share updates with you in due course.
The death of my uncle in Cairo and the desensitised medical care of Elaj Hospital in Cairo. My uncle, Dahir Ibrahim, a 72-year-old, arrived in Egypt from Somalia in December 2024 for cancer treatment. He went through both physical and mental hardship while being treated with chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Both his cancer treatment and its price were reasonable, and we are not complaining about that part of his care.
Uncle Dahir was eventually cleared by his doctor, who gave him the option to either stay in Egypt for follow-up appointments or return to Somalia and check in with a doctor there in a few months. Uncle Dahir wanted to go home badly, and he was finally scheduled to leave last Sunday, August 3rd. But God had another plan for him. We didn’t know it then, but his final home the grave was destined to be in Egypt.
He became terminally ill and was admitted to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with severe pneumonia. He spent eight days in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit), which cost his family, including me, over 200,000 EGP (more than $4,000). Uncle Dahir passed away early on Thursday morning under unclear circumstances.
Although he was very ill, Uncle Dahir was conscious and stable on Wednesday evening. The hospital called us Thursday morning to inform us that he had passed away. It is believed he died from a lack of oxygen.
The saddest part of the story is what happened next. After we had cleared all the bills and were about to take my uncle’s body for burial, the hospital demanded that we give them back or pay for the single white sheet that wrapped the deceased's body, as he had died in their hospital bed.
We believe my uncle died from a lack of oxygen, but that is another story. What surprised me was that the hospital staff never expressed any condolences or said they were sorry for our loss. Instead, they kept insisting that we pay the balance. I found them to be inhumane and heartlessly materialistic, like creatures in the bodies of human beings. I will be lying if I say that I was not very disappointed with them.

Unprecedented Scandal Involved Villa Somalia. I am ashamed to report on the breaking corruption scandal involving Villa Somalia. I had never imagined, and it feels surreal to me, that the regime at Villa Somalia could be involved in such misconduct. They have been renting helicopters, donated to the Somali National Army Forces, as private charters to military officials and others from other security sectors. The cost varies between $5,000 to $8,000 per flight. This includes transporting military officials and personnel from point to point, as well as for medivac and rescue operations. Somalia received six Bell 412 helicopters in 2023-2024 from Italy and various other countries in support of its war on terror according to information. Villa Somalia registered all the choppers as a private company under the name Gem-Tech, managed by Ahmed Nur President HSM close associate. However, they are painted and labelled as Somali Air Force (SAF) but fly under the call sign 6-Oscar, which is mostly used by civilian aircraft.
Somalia and International partners.
We know that the AU troops (AUSSOM) mandate expires within weeks, with very little chance of extension due to financial problems, as the US and EU have held back funds because of global economic turbulence. We also understand that embassies and other international bodies are rotating their staff, gradually minimizing their numbers in an almost invisible manner. The question is, what’s next for Somalia?
Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, is home to nearly one-third of the country's population and serves as the economic heart upon which the federal government heavily relies. Yet, this vital city operates without a functioning drainage, sewage system. This stark reality reflects the challenges facing Somali leaders, politicians, and the broader community, highlighting deficiencies in commitment, skill, and responsibility within governmental institutions. What a shame. @TheVillaSomalia@HassanSMohamud@HassanAKhaire@M_Farmaajo@SomaliPM
I am deeply dismayed and embarrassed by the images of federal ministers dressed in costly suits and the Somali Police commissioner in his extravagant uniform, complete with a four-star rank, standing before vast expanses of sewage. This flooding, caused by heavy rains, has left hundreds, if not thousands, of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other Mogadishu residents stranded in meters-deep water for the past 48 hours, with nowhere else to go. It is baffling and disheartening that they fail to grasp the basic decorum expected in such situations. This isn’t a moment for superficial displays; is a time for tangible action. Shame on you for treating it as a mere photo opportunity.
